Christian Bale Attached to "The Prisoners"

When you've got both Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale interested in a script before it even has a studio attached, you know it's a very hot script.

The hottest script in Hollywood just got one of the hottest stars as insiders say that Christian Bale (American Psycho, Batman Begins, Terminator Salvation) has attached himself to The Prisoners, joining Mark Wahlberg (The Happening) on the thriller and making the package for Aaron Guzikowski's spec even more desirable. That follows word from Bryan Singer that he'd like to direct the pic, though there's no official confirmation from his reps yet that he's come on board, the Hollywood Reporter writes. In addition, they got more details on the storyline, which can be read inside.

After his 6-year-old daughter and her friend are kidnapped, a small-town carpenter (to be played by Wahlberg, as far as we know) butts heads with a young, brash detective (to be played by Bale, as far as we know) in charge of the investigation. The father is a Bible-reading, deer-hunting survivalist. The cop, meanwhile, can’t wait to get to the city. Feeling failed by the law, the father captures the man he believes responsible and begins to torture him in a desperate attempt to find out what he did with the girls, whom he’s convinced are still alive.

The project is said to have echoes of "The Silence of the Lambs" and "Seven."

"When asked if The Prisoners might be his next project, Singer told EW: "I don't know yet. But I'm definitely intrigued. It's a great script. And I'd love to work with Mark." I'd love to read the script, but I'm quite hesitant, because I don't want to spoil the experience and would rather just wait to see it in theaters. Singer's last two movies - Superman Returns and Valkyrie - haven't exactly garnered the greatest praise from critics or audiences, which is why this might make sense for him. Maybe he'll go all the way back to his Usual Suspects roots and direct The Prisoners, which could be great, because I still do really like Singer."

I was glad to see that Bale joined such a different project. I am not really a fan of Wahlberg's stuff but if he could just....oh hey there goat how you doin, say hello to your mother for me, try to act for once and he might put in a decent role but thats not very oh hey horse, how you doin, say hello to you mother for me, not very likely.

i liked a lot of his movies, a lot of people hate Max Payne but i actully love that movie and the PQ on blu is top-notch!!!

but i've seen like 12 or 13 Bale movies (YES EVEN NEWSIES!) so i'll probably check this one out

yep, havent seen any of those

after i watched newsies and thought about it for a while
when i took away the singing (oh, how it hurt my ears....) the rest of the movie wasnt so terrible
wasnt great, but it was a ok little disney flick
woulda been better had they left it as a drama (Which is why bale signed on of course)

Shooters terrible CGI timing angers me. When he's up on the mountain in the beginning neutralizing subjects, when he shoots the leader from the front, the back of the guys head blows out before the CGI hole appears on the front of his head. I was hoping to see frame by frame awesomeness and instead found the magic bullet theory all over again.............

Sometimes frame by frame shows very weird things, like in War Zone when that guy at the end of the table, right before the blood splatters he is glowing yellow for some reason like he's in the temple of doom......
