Default Yanni - Live at the Acropolis 11/16/18

This sort of thing isn't my bag but this looks to be a cd/dvd/blu ray combo. My wife had this when I married her and I promptly "lost" it. Maybe it's time to give it a shot? The price is reasonable.

Yanni - Live at the Acropolis is amazing. My mom used to listen to this when I was young so it has grown on me. Just saw this, should be pretty awesome with the blu-ray and lossless audio hopefully a surround option.

There is a new 5.1 mix so surround will be an option on the disc.

This was the first CD I purchased back in 1997 when I could finally afford a decent sound system with a CD player. Brings back memories - phenomenal performance. The decades old DVD needs this upgrade very badly

This arrived from Amazon today, and it’s kind of hit and miss. I owned this years ago on VHS, so as much as this is likely an upgrade, it’s not as big a one as I had hoped. For the video, close ups are fair considering the age, but any medium to long shots are so bad they look out of focus to the point of being hard to watch. A shame really. Audio, on the other hand, is nicely done. The DTS-HD Master 5.1 has excellent fidelity with the surrounds surprisingly busy. I’ve never seen the DVD, but I’d expect the audio on the blu ray to easily outperform it, so if you’re looking to upgrade, do so for the audio presentation.

FYI, there is an audio only option on the disc in 5.1 as well, displaying fixed pictures and the set list.

Isn't the video also cropped to 1.78:1? The footage in the trailer definitely is, and the picture looks horrendous as a result:

I was thinking when I was watching it today that this was likely shot in 4:3, 25 years ago and made for tv/vhs and all....and yep, it’s in 1.78:1.

Yes, this was originally aired on TV and released on VHS in 1994, and its original aspect ratio is 1.33:1 (4:3). The production team completely botched this re-release by cropping the video to 1.78:1, which should never be done with SD quality 1.33:1 video on Blu-ray, because the cropping/zooming only reduces the picture quality.

I remember seeing this CD in the stores back when I was younger. Maybe I should get this...

Completely agree. They should have gone the Star Trek Next Gen route and left it in 1.33:1.The stretching is severe, and there are lots of shots with heads cut off... guess they had that ‘fill the screen’ mentality unfortunately.

I got the 3 disc set, DVD, blu ray and CD. As we’ve been discussing, the picture is horrid but the sound is great if you have an interest.
