Help w/ Ipod - Blu-ray Forum

Just got an 80gb Ipod for graduation and I need some help. I bought a 200gb external hard drive to put all my music, movies, and pics on so it doesn't waste space on my laptop. Am I able to put iTunes on the external hard drive and run my Ipod off that?

Also iTunes only allows quicktime movie files and many of the downloaded movies I have are .avi files. Is there a way to convert them or make them play on my Ipod?

Thanks in advance for any help or advice you guys could give.

Yes, you can store your entire iTunes library on an external drive. If AVI files can be played in iTunes, then you can right-click on them and choose "Convert for iPod".
