Today I bought the Dutch blu-ray release of The Da Vinci Code. When checking the disc I found out that the release does NOT include a English Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track, only a Dolby Digital 5.1 track. It does however includes a French Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track.
Wat was Sony thinking? That we are stupid or something? Last edited by FrankV; 05-07-2009 at 06:22 PM. |

Why not just the UK-versions?
Those tend to be most similar to or the same as the best versions. Besides, it costs a fortune to ship them, unless you don't care about costs... And it indeed seems like we're just seen as "not important enough" or something. The half-azzed versions we get here apparently. As if they're not expensive enough around here! |

I started a petition for Dutch consumers on DVD.nl (http://www.dvd.nl/forum/showthread.php?t=68579) to wake up Sony and Fox. It is ridiculous that we have to downgrade original English audio for French endtitles and a French Dolby True HD. This is the reason Sony gave for adding a Dolby Digital English track instead of an English Dolby True HD track on the French / Dutch release of The Da Vinci Code.
My petition is for both Fox and Sony, as Fox is serving us more and more DTS Hi Res tracks instead of DTS HD MA. |

But maybe you should use some kind of specialized petition-website? I'm not going to register at yet another forum, I'm drowning in them. XD Besides, even more people could join the petition. You can link them at DVD.nl and the Dutch/Belgian people here for example. I also don't understand they can't just put on the original audio in the best quality. Just like most releases in the world, except from the studios you named here. They could even put plain DD-audio-tracks in multiple languages, should be enough space. I'm also tired of us getting like French and other weird languages in our countries. I mean, I understand some are like world-languages. But immigrants that don't understand the original audio should just use subtitles then. And if they necessarily need to release more audio-languages, release them in the right countries. Then people can still import them if they necessarily need to have the alternative audio. How many of those people can there possibly be? I remember being annoyed by this DVD of "The Grinch". It has English and Dutch DD I believe, and the DTS-track is DUTCH. Had to listen to an ugly DD-track, it was actually cracking away. -_- But that's a little different situation...
