I bought my panny plasma in July and the batteries in the remote lasted about 5-6 months. Now they are lasting 2 weeks and it is getting ridiculous. Does anyone else have an issue w/ the remote eating batteries? The last batteries where brand new and only lasted 2 weeks before they started to die. The power button wont work but once it is on it will change channel and do the volume, but other buttons like the "input" one needs to be pressed 3-4 times before it works. Also the "ok" button doesn't work. I know it is the batteries because this is what it has been doing but once they are replaced all buttons work properly for a short time.
Does this sound like it might be a defective remote (or do they all eat batt. this quickly) and does anyone know if this is covered by warrenty as the tv is not yet a yr. old? hope my new '09 model doesn't go through batteries this quickly |

i use rayovac (sp?) so not quite as expensive as durecell but not the cheap WM branded ones. Not really sure why it would matter, I have heard that alot of the batteries are made in the same factory and they just wrap some in the cheap off-brand packaging and some in the expensive packaging; but not really sure.

rayovac used to make non-akaline batteries...if you buy the wrong ones, they won't last nearly as long as you'd like and will die out quickly
They do make a "heavy duty" battery that they say you should use in remote controls...they look to be non-akaline to me. I use rechargable (2350 mAh) in my remotes and have good luck with them - as long as I use them fairly frequently (once a week or so), they hold their charge for a while and seem to last a good amount of time - the best part is that they charge up in less than a hour so when the batteries are dying, the charger comes out and the batteries go in while a movie is on - before the movie is up, they are ready to pop back in. |
