Default BD60 Firmware problems?????????

I just received my new BD60 player today. I thought I would update the firmware first thing. Boy was that a bad idea. I am doing it the old fashion way with a cd-r. I do run 64bit vista, so I downloaded Imagburn to create an ISO9660 file for the BD player to read. Since vista burns files in udf. Burned the file and put it in the player and got this message L DRV for about 2 minutes. Then it ejected the disc and the message read UPD NG. Can anyone help?

First things first - with a BD PC, never update the firmware unless something is obviously wrong with it - if its not broken, don't mess with it - I've never updated my firmware on my PC BD hardware...ever . Always update your BD player software - that's were you see the majority of problems in BDPC playback. I will look tomorrow and try and find out what the error message means.

Your error means that it couldn't apply the patch. Which may be a good thing if it didn't erase your old firmware. Try playing a BD and lets see what happens

Oh he's talking about a standalone? This needs to go to the BD player section - Moving now.... (I though that part number looked funny).

well the upd does show up on the player display with numbers like upd1/5 meaning one out of 5 is installing. i would scrap the disc and just hook up a cable just to do the update.

i think i found the problem. but not sure. from the panny download site:

Quote:
The firmware update disc requires to be created with ISO9660 format. In case you are creating the disc on a Windows Vista PC, Windows Vista standard writing application does NOT support ISO9660 format. Please create with a supporting writing software.

Hi, I had the same issue with Imagburn. Try to use Roxio to create the cd-r disc, works like a dream!
