Default future of gaming browser based?

It always makes me smile when someone in a particular field predicts that the future of gaming is in the field they work in.

Anyway, the comment in the article that hardware is irrelevant seems insane and that PS4 and Xbox "whatevah" will be browser services and not consoles under the tv seems ludicrous to me. I've yet to see a browser based game to match anything on the Wii let alone the PS3 or 360.

Seems like a pipedream to me, which like all digital distribution predictions relies on the consumer having a fast internet connection, which the majority of the planets population just don't have.
