In my opinion, yes.

But don't take my word for it. Go out and look at some TV's at some of the HT shops on your area and compare.

Click on FORUMS and go to the DISPLAYS section.....you'll find info and opinion about both technologies.

Also there is a huge difference if you have light pointed directly at your television as well. As Plasmas have horrid glare compared to LCDs, but some think have better picture quality.

Take your time and do some research on the tv's. Go to stores like BB, Sears, Ultimate Electronics ect and take a look at what they have to offer. Plasma? Go with Panasonic. LCD? Samsung and Sony are the best for your buck in my book.

1.) Go to many stores and look at all different kinds of tv's (rear projection, lcd, plasmas.) Pick ones that you like.

2.) Come back home and research the tv's. Find out problems and experiences people have had with each one you like. Also do your price comparisons online. You'll find prices are better online usually than in the stores.

Buying a television is a large purchase. Always make sure you have enough information before putting your money down.

I bought this TV, brand new for $1500.00 through BestBuy. It was on sale from $2700.00 over Christmas 08' for $2100.00, I opened up a BestBuy rewards card and got double the discount which was 10% and to top it off they took back a horrific Westinghouse monitor I had purchased earlier for $400.00. Man that was a great day and too be honest the picture is stellar. Good luck and congrats on your graduation.

just thought I'd add this just in case.

I would go LCD. LCDs consume less power, sleeker, and last longer!
