Disney Taika Waititi Courted for Star Wars Movie

Quote:
After Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the space fantasy franchise is going on a pause, in terms of theatrical movies. But that does not mean the process has ground to a halt.

Taika Waititi, the filmmaker behind the Oscar-nominated Jojo Rabbit and Thor: Ragnarok, has been approached to develop a Star Wars movie, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter.

It is unclear where things stand in those talks. It is also unclear whether the project is separate from the one being developed by Kevin Feige, with whom he closely worked on Ragnarok, or a separate Star Wars project.

Disney and Lucasfilm, the producer of the Star Wars movies, had no comment. [SOURCE]

I like Star Wars. I like Taika Waititi.

Some things just don't go together.

I did enjoy his Mandalorian work, however.

Anything more like The Mandalorian is good!

If this becomes Star Wars: Ragnorok I will abandon the franchise, however.

To be honest, as a huge fan of Taika, I rather he stepped back from any other major franchise after Thor, and just continue do his own thing.

1 month from now - Taika Waititi confirmed to be developing new Star Wars trilogy, no details as to plot, stars, writers, or release date.

1 month after that - Taika Waititi parts ways with Lucasfilm, citing “creative differences”

I'm all for it. But, for the love of god don't handcuff him and let him work. I'm sick of KK hiring and firing directors left and right. *facepalm*

1 year later, Blu-ray.com forum members continue acting saltier than Crait, arguing over it endlessly...

MCU is taking over Star Wars now. First Feige and now Taika.
