Default Having to replace my Panny, need advise!!!

Hey guys. I have the TH-46PZ85U which is approx 1 year old which I bought new off of Ebay. Because I bought it on ebay and not from an authorized dealer, I had to get a Square Trade warranty.
Anyway, the power went out to the unit, and the warranty company has been going back and forth on parts and advised me today that there is a very good possibility that they may just refund me my purchase price instead of repairing it.

I paid 1290.00 which was about 700 cheaper than Best Buy was selling them for at the time.
After doing research, I found that I can now get a 50" for about the same price as the 46" cost me back then.

These are the 3 models I'm looking at:
G10 1799.00 @ best buy
U1 1399.00 @best buy
S1 1199.00 @ best buy (on sale)

Now it seems that all 3 sets are upgrades from what I had but I'm stuck between the s1 and the g10. I dont like that the u1 doesnt have the anti glare (plus the s1 is on sale for cheaper) so it's between the g10 and the s1.

I need help on deciding between those 2 as the 600.00 difference is a lot to me.
I don't need any of the internet features as my internet sux here anyway but I'm not sure exactly what the THX on the g10 really means.
I guess I just need to know what the extra money for the g10 will really get me over the s1.
Also noticed on the specs, all 3 have "no" listed under digital cable ready.
I have DTV HD, so is that going to effect me?
Thanks for the help guys.
Oh, I almost forgot, just in case it matters, I never had my old set professionally calibrated. I used settings posted on the forums and ran the break in disk and I absolutely loved the picture.(So that may give you an idea of my taste just in case one of the sets looks different from the others.)

From what I've been able to glean from reviews, the G10 has superior picture quality in comparison with the S1, and much of that is due to the presence of the THX picture mode which comes very close to professional calibration in terms of color accuracy and deep blacks.

Also, are you in Canada? Because if not, you really need to shop around online, as the prices you're showing from Best Buy are quite a bit more than you need to be paying from an authorized Panasonic dealer. Check out places like Cleveland Plasma, 6th Ave Electronics or Vann's - you should be paying at least $300 less U.S. than the prices you quoted.

On the "digital cable ready" issue, I believe that as long as you have a unit that inputs your TV signal and can output HDMI or component cables, you're fine. I think it's only if you needed to plug cable directly into those TV's that you'd have a problem.

Thanks for the advise. I thought the sale price on the s1 was a good deal as it is actually less than what I paid for my old tv which is 4" smaller. I'll defintely check around.

You might want to check out Costco. They have S1 in stock or at least the Costco in my area. There return policy is great and you have 90 days to see if you like it with no restocking fee. Might be the way to go to try it out. If not good luck either way you're getting a bigger newer Panny.

The S1 will be cheaper regardless of were you buy, but i have the G10, and it's an amazing set really do love it. If you are budget minded then go for the S1, but the G10 can be had for about $1500 shipped at some online retailer's, but it is nice to have a box store that you can deal with if any problems should arise or any return is waranted. and they do have a fairly good price on the S1 so go were your budget takes you......thats MO..

Amazon has a promotion

Buy any of the G10 series plasma you get a 12megal pixel lumix camera or $200 rebate for bd60 blu-ray player,

their 46" g10 cost about $1279 which is under your budget.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...sr=1-1&seller=

Before buy tv you might wanna goes to local best buy or fry to see them in person, i prefer fry's because they let you play around the remote.

Thanks guys. Weve been without a main tv for a month sice the old panny went out.
When my 7 year old son got home and saw the new one,he hugged it.
Best part is that square trade said I could keep the old one! I'm gonna buy the part, install it myself and sell it.
