Default Dunkman23's HT......

UPDATE: Just got some new rear speakers. I bought the Speakercraft Aim Wide Ones.... these are way nicer than the polks i previously had.
I also just purchased an Apple Tv.

Feel Free to critque me. Any help needed to improve my theater I will take.

I purchased my house about 1 year ago, and I have been slowly "trying" to peice together my theater. since i do visit this forum frequently, I figure I might as well post pics of my system up since everyone else is too .

Now Im just debating if i should get ceiling speakers for the surrounds or not. and whether or not to get acoustic paneling in the back walls next to the windows. Not sure if it will help or not.

sorry if the images are dark. Im still learning to use my camera.

Very modern. Sleek and elegant.

::takes break from his own assembly::

Ever given any consideration to filling out those walls? Panels, posters, diffusers, mayhaps? Elevating your center channel?

SVS and Emotiva are a solid pick - what made you decide on Viennas?

Thanks,

I was looking at the Viennas for quite some time at Magnolia . I enjoyed the clarity of them comparing to all the other speakers I have tested.

Great job, Dunkman!

Looks great so far, I agree, modern, sleek, elegant.

I might also recommend some acoustic treatments (diffusors) and perhaps a sub riser or isolation platform for it. Since it appears that a majority of your wall surfaces in the room are parallel, some diffusors may help reduce any standing wave problems that can arouse, and will help control undesirable reflections.

Now you just need some decorations, and maybe some artwork!

Looks great, though!

Dunkman, I think the room looks good so far. My initial suggestion would be to switch over to wall mounted speakers to raise your surround channels up well above ear level. That will keep the surrounds from being so localized, and your surround sound will become a lot more enveloping.

Great job!

I have been contemplating on the Auralex Great Gramma, I might have to pull the trigger.

Where and wat brand diffusors are out there? and where would they go? the back wall?

I agree with kingofgrills. If I were you I would look into Bi-pole or Di-pole speakers. I think either would work well in your area. Looks like you have the perfect spot for them.

You may have to try to see which sounds best to you, and here is three different ones. From these and how your room is, I think I would like the third option.

If you plan to have it a 7.1 with your current rear speakers, then you would put the bi/di-pole on the side.

You will hear a big difference and I like I said, the way your room is, you will be able to take the full advantage of them. My room the back is open and I know I'm not getting the full advantage, but yet, it's far far better then direct radiating speakers. I have to build a wall.

You would put them near the ceiling and you will get a really nice encompassing sound.

Here is a thread on the subject
https://forum.blu-ray.com/speakers/6...-speakers.html

If you go near the end of the first post, you will see a list in a summary of dis-advantages and advantages.

Just to let you know, most of those type of speakers have a selector on them to become either bi-pole or di-pole.

Even tho you read all that info, you will be able to test out which way you like the best when you listen to them.

I have four of them and all of them are in di-pole mode, but I was told I should have my rear as bi-pole while my sides are di-pole. I haven't gotten around to switching them. Once I do, I have to run Audessey, and haven't felt like doing it.

But I do look forward to see them in your place and hearing what you think.
