I have a Sony vega crt ( big a** goliath) 480i/480p/1080i with the best connection being component. I'm using it as a secondary tv in a rather small room and will mainly be using a PS3 on it for gaming and some BD movies. I was wondering how to get the full use of it when playing a 1080p BD or 720p game?
Is it worth buying a BD player that can upconvert to 1080i using component, if they make one? Or is there a reasonable priced av receiver that upconverts to 1080i through component to tv? I was told by the guys in blue there isn't a receiver that will do that. I'm kind of going cheap on this secondary set up and I just need a receiver for it. But if a new av receiver won't really help in pq, I was thinking of just using my old Yamaha HTR-5640 and buying a stand alone Blu player with the single speaker input jacks so I can get the LPCM 5.1 that I was reading on another post. I know it's a lot of questions I tossed out, but any help would be greatly appreciated. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
