Default Gangs of New York -reissue?

Like so many others I was throughly dismayed with the quality of the BD release of this, one of my all time favorite films.
As I've seen quite an outcry regarding this and a few others (some already remastered and released) I assume they'll re-master it but does anyone know for sure? Is there a place to go to see what current releases are so shottily done that they're getting re-issues?

i dont there's a specific website that lists that. just have to check news on bluray websites. for the record, i didn't think it was THAT bad (i.e fifth element original issue-bad).

There is no page like this. The studios do not want this type of information getting out, because if they are going to re-issue it, they want to run through the stock currently available.

well, to each his own. it definitely wasn't the departed, but i thought it easily looked better than the dvd.

Default Is everybody else tired of bad transfers too!

All Blu-rays should have excellent P.Q. (in my opinion) that's why we all pay twice as much over DVD's to get a awesome picture not a Ok picture.

A perfect example of awesome P.Q. on Blu-ray is How The West Was Won, and this movie was filmed in 1962 and it looks ten times better than most newer movies out now, so how does that make any sense!

Blu-rays with bad transfers: Robocop (really BAD), the first Fifth Element and to keep the list short Gangs of New York.

The thing is some Studios don't care about doing good transfers on all movies because most consumers won't say a word if it looks bad, they'll just say well it looks better than the DVD, and that in it's self is the problem.

The Blu-rays I have bought with horrible transfers I have taken them right back to the store I bought it from a made them give me my money back, even though they don't like to refund if the Blu-ray is opened and not defective, but what I make them do is play the Blu-ray and ask them if that's a HD quality picture, and I get my refund right away.

Basically, if we pay more we should get more!

That's because it is much better than its DVD counterpart. This is the best Gangs of New York has ever looked, I really don't understand what there is to complain about.

You would have to be blind to miss the DNR and EE in this particular Blu-ray release. It doesn't look film like at all.

The Blu-ray used the exact same master as the DVD. I believe there are screen comparisons over at AVS that compare the two. The BD literally looks like an upscaled DVD, as the EE as well as all of the other imperfections on the DVD, are exactly the same, just in higher res. It's the worst disc I own, by far. It's probably too much to hope for Disney just to swap them, but it'd be nice.

Instead of releasing a better version of this film, Disney decided to re-release No Country for Old Men, which didn't need a re-release.

Disney's live action output has been pathetic. I thought the "floodgates" were going to open this year?

I have the SDVD, it truly is one of the worst transfers I've ever seen. The BD though barely looks any better, all sorts of EE and noise and just tons of distractions, I actually use it to show people how to tell what a sh***y BD transfer looks like, especially on the 73 inch screen, the problems are just magnified.
Indeed, the biggest letdown of my BD collection, 127 strong and this is without doubt the worst looking.
