Question

Where do you live such that your Wal-Mart doesn't sell blu-rays, that doesn't make any sense...

sounds like the clerk doesn't know what they are talking about b/c wal-mart is going through a huge revamp right now (@ least from what the thread on here is talking about) and is adding more blu-rays than they previously had.

you can see where my confusion is coming from then.... i looked around and found no blu ray movies and finally asked and was told walmart (edmonton ab, canada) does not carry blu ray movies. i am hoping the clerk was just clueless. i am not going to lie, it kind of freaked me out. i started wondering if blu ray is going fail betamax style.

There's absolutely no way. It's actually progressing faster than DVD ever did. You've nothing to worry about in that sense. I would think that your Wal-Mart either currently isn't getting the BD purchases and is pulling back the shelf space, or (more likely) they're revamping it. I would ask someone else or just take your money elsewhere.

Blu-ray isn't going anywhere any time soon. I would suggest you just shop on Amazon and the trading forum on this site.

My WM near my work was revamping all there inventory the other day,
at lunch I am going back to take a look.

Went and looked at lunch, and it has expanded selection, and I noticed a
lot more $10.00 movies, and a lot of the $14.96 ones.

Here in Portland Maine the wALmart used to have a lot more shelf space of BD's and now it is only new release. I am not worried about BD disappearing but, they are making it challenging to impulse buy movies.

My Wal-Marts here in up state NY , Had a okay selection of Blu-rays, and I read they were going head to head with Best Buy & Amazon ,So I went and checked them out this weekend and guess what Both of them pulled back thier selection , now they only have a end cap with new releases and a bargin rack int he isle with about 25 titles for $15.00 , I asked and they said no thier selection was decressed due to not selling many, I said they posted they were going to do battle with BB & AMZ, they said they did'nt hear that , this really sucks big time, So now we only have best buys & Fye which is insanely priced, so looks like Best Buy has the hot spot for us,

Ours is not much better -
Endcap with new releases
$15 kiosk
New-ish releases and a few $10 titles...bleh. Not surprised at all, Wal-Mart isn't the blu-ray backer they claim to be and I doubt they ever have been.

don't worry about the movies disappearing completely
they did the same at my walmart while they were getting ready to put out the new $15 section and i'm assuming fix more space eventually

the blus should be back at your WM soon

Default re

ya just visited my walmart today. they re did the tvs, and movies, and just about illiminated all blu ray movies from the shelves. just a few new releases, and some older titles for $10 in 2 areas, thats it. used to have 2 shelves full.
are they not selling well at walmart, or will they be getting a new selection in?
they didnt have a very big selection to choose from and if there are so many movies out on blu ray, then why dont they get a huge selection to choose from that we can purchase from at walmart and target? is blu ray failing?

Blu-Ray is at a higher market penetration than DVD was at the same point in its life so no blu-ray is NOT failing. Supposedly Wal-Mart is increasing the size of their blu-ray sections but it sounds like it varies by town and region.
