"Sony CEO Howard Stringer Studying, Refining PS3 Price"

(OK, i'm probably blowing this WAY out of proportion, but we all know this is one factor that will be a nail in HDDVD's coffin...)

I am not at all against a price reduction........however, I hope they don't try to remove certain compoenents to make up for that price!
As far as I'm concerned, the PS3 is worth every cent I paid for it! You surely couldn't go out and by a gaming PC for that kind of money.

I'd of paid more if I knew more about it when I bought it. The PS3 has exceeded my expectations ten fold.

Plus the Piano Black finish matches my 61" Samsung

With another month with under 90k PS3 units sold they need to do something. They have around 2 million PS units shipped but not sold yet and they are still prodcuing them at a fast pace. They need to do something to move them. At this rate the 2 million units won't be sold until the busy holiday season. Where are they storing all these PS3 systems?

Well, currently, the plan is to eventually remove the hardware PS2 Emotion Engine chips/compatibility, and implement a software solution.

That said, that's a space solution more than a cost solution, the EE chips are pretty cheap for Sony right now. The big reduction in cost is going to come with the maturing of the Blue diode production.

The two big exclusive blockbusters for this holiday season have been pushed back, FFXIII, and I expect MSG4 to follow. Who knows if those 2 million will even be sold this holiday season? Sony has to drop the price.

And if they want to remove something, remove the memory card readers, I don't see myself, nor most gamers, using them ever.
