Default Which mfg do you like best?

I just want the input of others...

I am a big Sony TV fan. I have seen everything else but I love Sony televisions. Their quality from top to bottom is second to none, in my opinion.

Samsung looks good but too many bad stories about their customer service and longevity. I also have had bad experiences with the quality of every piece of Samsung equipment I have ever owned.

So, what brand do you like and why?

I like Sony, but it seems that without fail all of their products are overpriced. For that reason (I'm a cheapskate) I like Samsung. I have yet to experience any issues with build quality or longevity. My only major Sony product is my PS3 When it stopped reading discs I hit a brick wall with Sony's customer service. Granted, it was a couple of months out of warranty, but they were playing dumb, like they've never heard of such a problem. Their response was that it couldn't be a common problem with the system because "most" people weren't experiencing it.

Unfortunately, I haven't had a chance to check out Panasonic or Pioneer because whenever I've been in the market for TVs they've been out of my price range. My Panasonic cordless phone works great though.

There are a bunch of good a/v receivers available. I like the Onkyo selection because they are a very good value, but I wouldn't shy away from buying a Denon, Pioneer or Yamaha.

I'm not a fan of particular manufacturers, but do loads of studying before buying a product. I have never personally had a Sony TV because I've found them to be overpriced. I have 2 LCDs and a DLP that are Samsung, and a Panasonic plasma. I've been happy with all of them, though the plasma is currently getting a new display because a permanent vertical black line developed, but it's under warranty so no cost to me.

For Blu-ray players I have 2 PS3s and a Sony S350, as well as a Panasonic BD55. I have been happy with all of these, and give a slight edge to the BD55 over the S350. I always liked Sony DVD players best.

My receiver is an Onkyo 805, and I also have an Onkyo 705. I found that those were the best "bang for the buck" receivers in the price range I was looking at.

Sony.

I've had 2 Sony trinitron screens (one lasted over 15 years, the other is even older) CPU trinitron monitors (10+ years and still going strong),
and HD 16:9 monitor on another computer, and 2 HD screens for both entertainment centers.
and a DV camera, dvd player, and 2 amps, PS2

oh wait, this is the BR forum
S-300, PS3....

Other than the one tv that finally expired, never had a problem with any of them.

So while they may cost more, they have great quality and longevity.

The two on my ent. centers were black friday deals, so prices were closer to reasonable

I base my favorites on build quality and reliability.

For Sound, my favorite has always been Pioneer. I still have Pioneer components that go back some 25 years and are still going strong.

For Video, my favorites are Panasonic and Pioneer. I have had a Panasonic RPTV since 1997 and I currently have a Kuro Elite from Pioneer.

Sony is right behind them based on DVD players and other electronics!

I am a fan of Toshiba myself...I think they make fantastic TV's. Sony is good too...although I think they are a little overpriced. I have an old Sony (a real workhorse lol) that is at least 10 years old but still chugs along!

I'm partial to Sony, because of their wide range of products available in multiple electronics genres. I wish they made a plasma, because I would have bought them without question. I haven't found their equipment to be overpriced necessarily, but I have heard that many many times. They seem to be comparably priced to me. The CRT Sony sets that I've owned have been rock-solid and never once exhibited the slightest issue at all. Great sets.

I personally had not been a fan of Samsung products over the course of the first 30 years of my life (I'm 31), but after reading reviews and testimonials about their plasmas, I was convinced to go with them when I made the big leap to HD last year. I am extremely happy with my Samsung set.

I have been coming around to Panasonic brand the past couple years, due in large part to the fact that they're getting great reviews in their TVs and Blu-rays. I picked up a Panasonic plasma and Blu-ray player for my bedroom late last month and am happy with both.

Pioneer has a special place in my heart, especially for car audio. I've never owned any Pioneer home theater gear, though.

See, that is how i feel about it. I don't mind paying a little more if I know I am getting a better product. And again, this is just personal preference.

TVs I like Samsungs best with Sony just behind for LCDs, and plasmas, well, there are really only 2 choices maybe 3, and I would buy a Panasonic if it were my choice for a plasma.

Receivers I like Sony's (I know its unpopular) and Pioneer and Denon. I think my next will be a Denon.

BDPs, Sony or Panasonic, cause I want a really good inexpensive one. I think the pannys offered more for the money last christmas and so that is why I went that route myself.

Speakers.... WOW I like a lot, I think I would take an Energy reference system or Paradigm Studio system if I had the choice. Maybe KEF IQ's.... I don't know... Never heard Swans or Monitor Audio, so who knows.... too many choices.

I prefer Panasonic Plasmas and Samsung LCD's. I think Sony can make good televisions, they are always just way overpriced. I'm a Plasma junkie anyways, I feel like a THX certified, calibrated plasma is going to be the superior technology for film presentation with infinite black levels and a 600mhz processor for fast motion.

i know im gonna be alone on this but i love my 6 year old hitachi ultravision lcd. these tv's have been notorious for being lemons. i have never had any problems with mine and it looks as good as when it was new. i recently got into the service menu and started tweaking settings. making the picture even better than i have seen on this set in 6 years and voiding any warranty that there isn't. hitachi has my vote. now if they only made a newer plasma to rival the other high end set i would be a repeat customer.

I have been a big Sony fan for a while, probably since PS1... until discovering plasmas and Pioneer in particular. Now I kinda wish I had a Pioneer receiver instead of the Onkyo, if only for the Elite logo and compatibility with my remote. Pioneer BD players look nice too!

Sony. I have had Sony products for as long as I can remember and they always lasted a long time and were always and continue to be reliable. Cell, phones, boom boxes, vcr's, tv's and just recently a Sony Progressive Scan dvd player the ran for almost 9 years without a problem. I gave that to a freind of mine when I picked up my Sony BDPS350 Blu ray player. I have been just blown away by my Sony 46inch HD tv and the quality it has so far delievered. Their customer service has been just top notch as well. I cant say enough about Sony really because to me they are just that good. Overpriced? To some maybe but at least I know I am getting a top quality product and thats what counts to me. If there was another brand I would go with it would be Panasonic and their Plasma tv's but right now its Sony and will be that way at least for awhile. I am thinking of going with a bigger model HD tv and it will be a Sony and I am also going to be getting a PS3.

Again it's Sony for me and will be that way for some time to come.

I had a Sony 60" LCD rear projection for 3 years and never had any problems. When it came time to upgrade I went with the Pioneer Kuro plasma and upgrade may not be a strong enough word for the change in PQ. Now with Pioneer out of the TV business I would check out Panasonic's latest models.
