OMG I AM GOING TO DIE! CFL Bulb BROKE! SAVE ME ZOMG!

Yeah, this will have been like the fourth one that broke in the past year. Mostly thank to the vintage lamps being really light and tipping over easy. I broke one yesterday and did not realize it. Upset me a bit because the cats were playing near it and walking around it.

Anyways, I cleaned up the big chunks of glass by hand and vacuumed up what was left and then wiped down the floor with a damp towel. After that was done I decided to indulge in a treat and lick the white power from the lamp, off my fingers. Boy was it delicious!

I find it funny all the people up in arms about the mercury in these lamps. I use Neolites because I like the size and the color (5k). It's a bright white light that is nice. More natural and only contains 1mg of mercury. I am not sure where I read it but there is this huge instruction sheet on what to do if you break one - it's like following direction on what to do if a mini nuclear bomb goes off in your house. Lol.

There is so much crap out there to be more worried about than these things. Just an FYI. Use them and enjoy their benefits. We drive cars with hazardous chemicals in them - nobody makes a fuss about that when they are dripping their shit all over the roads. :P

Ask anyone over 40 about the jar of mercury that they played with in school or at their grandparent's or uncle's house...

Yeah it contaminates groundwater but the amount in a CFL isn't going to do any damage, especially when it breaks in a house.

Now if an infant was chewing on the glass shards, I'd have a little more of an issue...

But seriously, if those bulbs are giving you trouble, just go back to the normal ones. It might cost you a little more on energy bills, but that better than dying, right?

Bulbs are not giving me trouble. My thread was more of a joke about how everyone over reacts to CFL's breaking.

What's wrong with my old avatar? Do I need to bring it back?
