What site? I ordered my 50inch online and never had any problems. Everything turned out good for me but theres also plenty of horror stories out there. If the site is reliable I wouldnt really be scared to make another huge purchase online.

I've bought two. One from Amazon with Free White glove Delivery and the other from One Call. Amazon delivered it, hooked it up, and made sure there was no defects. One Call drop it off at the bottom of my driveway because the freight truck couldn't get up it. I had to use a dolly and a ratchet strap and lug it up by myself. They were both 50" TV's so, they weren't light.
Get the White Glove delivery. |

Amazon uses a company called Eagle Freight. They used to be a headache a couple of years ago..due to things sitting in very cold or hot warehouses, corners crunched, etc. But, I think Amazon laid a little smackdown and now they are very good...just inspect the outside box throughly and if you see any rips or dented cardboard remember where you saw it. Then, when you plug it in, make sure there aren't any discolorations in the corners. That would be from the frame warping. If you see anything at all, make sure you point it out to the delivery guy and call the store right away!

Cleveland Plasma is VERY highly rated over at AVS. Good prices and excellent service (though I have no personal experience with them). I bought my 58" plasma from Costco.com, and it delivered without issue (though not really an internet site, I know).
By the way, what 55" plasma are you looking at? The only 55" I'm aware of is from Hitachi, and personally, I'd steer clear. Stick with Pioneer/Panasonic (or Samsung if the price is too good to be true). My 2 cents. |

I bought my TV off of Amazon two years ago (no shipping and no tax really helps the wallet). I had it two weeks and started getting lines in the TV. Thankfully it was a Sony because the customer service was quick and helpfull. I had to have someone repair it and there have been no problems ever since.

I did all the research and footwork locally. Decided on a brand and model, then off to AMZ I Went for the best price and white glove delivery. Woot.
I even had to exchange it, as the first one had too much "clouding" which didn't reveal itself until at night, in a dark room. AMZ was so concerned and sent off another one without any effort on my part. |
