The PS3 in my bedroom is far away from my router(this thing: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1188561003287) and my connection strength is only about 50%, what can I buy in terms of a "bridge" or "range extender" will work with the PS3. And if it makes a difference I give my PS3's the same static IP address.

as long as your in a house and you have that router your signal strength should be 80% of above, either (too many other things/people) are logged on (either in your house, or if your not password protected neighbors and what not) the only reason that would make the strength that low (because i had this problem last month) is your cable modem is old, or the connection isnt tight and clean enough) call your ISP (Verizon, Optimum) whatever you have, and ask them to check your house's signal strength over the phone, they can do this and tell you if the packets they send go through at a less than normal rate
sorry for wall text |

I think my only problem is distance. My PS3 in the living room which is closer to the router with less walls in between and my signal stregth is rarely less that 90%. I do have a password on my network so neighbors are out of the list. My internet speed is great. Only concern is signal strength on the bedroom PS3.

I have a Belkin Range Extender....my signal went from 30% up to 85% with using this in the same room as my PS3.
It's about $35 on Amazon...its a b!tch to setup, though..thats why it has such varying reviews...when you figure it out, it works great...before that, expect some issues... |

I am leaning toward buying a range extender, but what is the difference between a range extender and a access point? I have my router setup to allow my PS3's (both get the same IP address) to go through DMZ and turned on "game fuel"(what ever that does) So I do not want something that will try to issue new IP address's.

that means plugging the extender directly into your router via ethernet cable and then pointing your browser to the extender default ip and then changing it manually to match your PS3....i.e(192.168.1.1) |

Ive seen lots worse inside a house depends on the building, the router i set up in my sisters house is only 12 foot away maybe a bit more from the pc and gets 10%.
But she lives in a old house with thick thick stone walls. You could always try the plugs that use the house electrics as a network cable plug one in at the modem and the other at the ps3 |
