Default Penske to buy Saturn from GM

Interesting....
Quote:
NEW YORK (AP) -- General Motors Corp. strikes a tentative deal to
sell its Saturn brand to former race car driver and auto dealer Roger Penske.
Penske, who owns the Penske Automotive Group dealership chain,
told reporters on Friday that he plans to offer all 350 Saturn dealerships new franchise agreements. He says Saturn's 13,000 employees will stay on with the company for at least the immediate future.
if He declined to name the price for the deal.
Penske says GM will continue to produce Saturn vehicles, though
he is in discussions with manufacturers worldwide about building the vehicles going forward

I guess the end isnt near for Saturn after all

This is good news and hopefully Penske can restore Saturn's original philosophy towards good customer service. I have a friend whose dad just built a new Saturn dealership last year and I know he was worried that he had wasted his money once GM went into bankruptcy. It's nice to see jobs won't be lost and an American buyer was found.

Saturn as a brand has been pretty successful compared to the rest of GM right?

Two years ago it outsold Buick + Pontiac (GM is keeping Buick, making Pontiac a specialty brand). Its slipped a bit since then.

I worked for Saturn for a short span of my life...they were very reliable cars, just, had a very crappy resale value.

If only Saturn had a plug in hybrid....

Maybe Penske will do something like that. My dad has had 2 Saturns and I own one. They really are amazing cars. Glad to know thye will stay around a while longer

I would never buy a Saturn. They offended me by only offering $50 for my trade-in vehicle.

I'm sure they are decent cars, but I'm happy with my Hondas.

My Saturn is still kicking and it turns 16 years old in September. Glad to see the company will still be around too.

That has nothing to do with Saturn itself
