Post List of restored movies on Blu-ray

Does anyone have a link to information regarding lists of restored movies on blu ray (or upcoming restored movies)? I guess the latest restored film to hit blu ray is STAR TREK THE WRATH OF KHAN, which is kind of impressive thought not perfect.

Thanks.

Hello,

THanks for the info, everybody.

I have BLADE RUNNER, GODFATHER and WRATH OF KHAN (Star Trek collection). I hear the James Bond restored DVDs were good, but the Blu Ray versions are lacking in their presentations (I read some titles were worse than the DVD versions, like WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH etc.).

I was wondering if there will be more contemporary films (1970-2008) that will be see full or partial restoration. Hopefully, ALIEN series will get that Lowry Digital (?) restoration work.

WTF have you been reading? Couldn't be further from the truth, the new James Bond Blu-rays are drop-dead gorgeous. Absolutely stunning in every way.

I haven't watched them all yet but some of the early Bond blu-rays look great as well (Dr. No, for example).

Dr. No is a revelation. It has never looked so crystal clear.

Yes.... there will be more..... "WHEN" and "WHAT" are the big questions though..... There are 900,000 or so DVDs.... so the Blu-ray catalog is only a fraction of that..... MANY films are, and will be released.

Benricci,

This is one review for WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH:
http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/2062...notenough.html

The section on picture quality is negative I would say, or not that good. It even says the transfer is quite "dated." Gulp.

I remember DVDBeaver giving it a rating of 7, which is just above mediocre. I hope the remaining titles will be excellent (LIVING DAYLIGHTS, etc.).

As for the earlier titles, I shall give it a try (DR. NO, etc.)

Anyway, guys, thanks for all the info. LAWRENCE OF ARABIA should be gorgeous...

Also, although I mentioned Digital Lowry, is it true, if anyone knows, that they are indeed working ALIEN and ALIENS etc. ?

Yeah, so? The transfer on TWINE was just OK, but nowhere is it suggested that it is worse than the standard DVD. In fact that review specifically points out that it is actually better.

Do yourself a favor - actually watch the discs before you comment on picture quality. The Bond series is outstanding, you should give them all a try.

Every Bond BD that I've seen has been amazing.

Dr. No
From Russia With Love
License To Kill
For Your Eyes Only
Live And Let Die
Moonraker
Thunderball
all have excellent PQ, with no DNR. I haven't seen the others yet but Goldfinger and Die Another Day are supposed to look good also.

Default To Benricci

Benricci, I wish I could afford to buy all Blu Ray and watch them and then make comments on picture quality. However, I reside in Asia, and we do not yet have Blu Ray rentals, so as you can understand, I and my family and colleagues in Asia tend to read reviews first and then based on the collective information, make informed purchases imported from USA. I don't understand why you are so defensive and angry. Maybe because we Asians cannot read your tone properly or something. But I do agree with you, the James Bond series is a fantastic series, and we shall give it a try.
For all readers, please understand there are non American readers to this website, whose native countries do not yet carry Blu Ray rentals. Purchases are very expensive (50 dollars each in Japan, for example), so we cannot make a lot of purchases until we get some info. I believe this site, Blu Ray com, is such a site to serve those American and international readers. After all, Blu ray discs in many cases are Region free, so there are international customers who would be interested to get readers' opinions and professional opinions before making purchases.
If I misunderstood the purpose of this site, I apologize.

The unofficial Bond one Never Say Never Again has crappy PQ. It needs to be remastered.

The Dirty Harry movies were remastered for the DVD versions. I assumed they used those same masters for the Blu-ray Collection. They look and sound great!

Did someone mention The Fifth Element yet?

I own all the Bond BDs so far and I can say none of them look anywhere near DVD quality. They're all amazing. Moonraker's definitely the best. LTK, Dr. No and Goldfinger all look great. To be honest, FRWL was sort of a disappointment. It looks better than ever, but it just doesn't compare to Goldfinger, Dr. No or Thunderball in my opinion.
