Default Disney Pixar Ultimate Movie Collection - I'd like to choke....

Disney.

What is up with this company? Why are they so dang stingy with their releases? They peter out the vault like it's a cure for cancer!

Cripes. Why not release all the Pixar stuff in a collection like the DVD version.

I guaranty Walt is spinning in his grave at the direction his company has taken. Jerks.

End of Line......

It's their intellectual property and they don't have many movies so I don't really blame them for dragging their feet with releases. 4 of their movies are out, that's good enough for now.

I agree. They are taking their time but why rush. When they put out quality the way they do it makes it totally worth it.

Disney (Pixar) has been consistently terrific with their releases. I do not mind waiting for their product.

a) Your analogy is deeply offensive. Grow up.

b) They have a catalog of titles and they release them one or two at a time to allow the maximum number of consumers to buy these titles at a given time, rather than flood the market like a tsunami and watch all interest wane in two weeks when the next big release comes out. This way, every three months or so, they have a "next big release" and an ad campaign to support it.

c) I can't speak for Walt, but I think his ashes are less disturbed now than they were under the last years of Eisner.

I should clarify.

They can certainly release the current Pixar stuff on BD much faster than they are, one at a time. Think about new movies, like Wall-E. The movie was in theaters the beginning of EDIT: July and on BD in November!

They could easily have done the entire BD collection in one set by now.

Deeply offensive!? Get off your high horse. I didn't equate movie releases with the importance for a cure for cancer. I equated Disney's attitude with the said importance. Two completely different things. It's a called a figure of speech.

Your second point: nice marketing talk.

3rd point: right you are.

So you don't want a new high-definition transfer from the original digital files? You don't want incredible lossless sound from the original studio master? You don't want new special features?

You just want them out now at the sacrifice of quality.

Wall-E was in theaters in June.

This has been Disney's marketing strategy since VHS, and it's been effective, so I don't see them changing. If they release everything in a short period of time people aren't going to be able to afford everything, so by releasing 1-2 catalog releases a year demand stays up.

I don't agree with him 100% on this as I understand Pixar's staggered release schedule but I definitely don't find anything offensive about his post...Relax buddy...and this is coming from someone who has lost multiple relatives to cancer in the past 3 years.

Man. Did I stumble into the Disney Defense Brigade or what? Geesh, last time I make a simple complaint about them!

It's simple. I didn't say any of the above. All I said was what takes so long? 3-4 months for Wall-E to go BD. Doesn't take a giant leap to realize the whole library could be done by now.

Actually it was June 27, so I rounded up a bit. I meant to write July not August in my original note.

I understand the strategy. I'm really only asking for the same collection they already have on DVD, the Pixar stuff.

It took at least four months, around five months. But it's a new release, so they will sell far, far more than they would if they release older titles that were released/re-released on a different format not too long ago.

This Ultimate Movie Collection you keep talking of is just a re-release of all the original DVD releases. For Disney to spend all kinds of money to re-master the video and sound, as well as add loads of features, as theyve consistently done on all of their Blu-Ray releases of catalog titles, would be foolish on their part. Im sure they will eventually release another Ultimate Movie Collection on Blu-Ray someday but with more movies joining the Pixar family it may be a while.

Gotta love people who think they're entitled to everything now.

I swear, everything from fast food to the internet has turned this generation into the impatiant "Gotta Have It Now" generation. If studios released everything at once, it wouldn't sell nearly as well. Because instead of the majority buying the newest releases, you have people forced to pick and choose which they want more.

Wah wah wah.

Obviously they stagger releases to allow each one its time in the sun. You have no right to these movies, and should appreciate that Disney puts such care and time into them.

You shouldn't make such sweeping assumptions.

I'm 40, definitely not in the Gotta Have it Generation. Just thought I'd stir the pot on something I think is pretty simple.

Again, I didn't ask that Disney (and since when did that company become so defensible? Didn't we get enough of the Eisner years to prove they are as lecherous as anyone?) release the whole vault, just the Pixar stuff included in the DVD collection.

Cripes.

It's not really a complaint. It's just utter whining.

And then, when studios do release collection box sets, people whine about being forced to buy movies they don't want in order to get the ones they do want.
