http://marquee.blogs.cnn.com/2011/10...ving-in-drive/
From CNN: Lawsuit of the day: Sarah Deming of Michigan is suing FilmDistrict, the distributor of Ryan Gosling's flick “Drive,” because she wanted more driving in the film, CNN confirmed. The suit also names Novi, Michigan’s Emagine Theaters, because Deming wants her money back. Deming hopes to get others involved in the suit so they too can recover the $12 ticket cost. Deming claims that the promotional material for the crime drama’s was misleading, suggesting the film would feature more action-y driving scenes. “Drive,” by the way, tells the story of a Hollywood stunt driver (Gosling) who gets involved with a heist gone wrong. It does feature a good deal of action (and violence), but there are other elements to the film. For instance, a love story. The suit alleges that the company "promoted the film ‘Drive’ as very similar to the ‘Fast and Furious,’ or similar, series of movies." But, Sarah was sad to learn, "’Drive’ bore very little similarity to a chase, or race action film… having very little driving in the motion picture." Deming also claims the film is anti-Semitic, and that it “promoted violence against members of the Jewish faith.” A spokesperson for FilmDistrict told CNN they don't comment on pending litigation. Sarah Deming may not have liked “Drive,” but critics did. The movie earned a score of 93 percent fresh on Rotten Tomatoes. |

It's obviously a "sarcasm" lawsuit:
There's no legal grounds that a movie poster was ever a "breach of contract" with the audience, otherwise Escape From NY and Attack of the 50 Ft. Woman would've been sued long ago. There's unfortunately no "truth-in-advertising" law to enforce against movie trailers/ads, either, for people who went into "The Muppets" thinking it would be about The Hangover or Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. ![]() Still, if she was in a sarcastic mood, she could've picked a more publicly studio-embarrassing and hi-profile movie to be expensively snarky about-- Just think how many lawsuits comic fans could've brought up against Green Lantern, if they'd been in a similarly mischevious frame of mind. |

Shouldn't it say that the movie "drive" offers something different?
![]() I really want to see this since I watched the director's last film, Vahalla Rising, was a masterpiece! ![]() That movie also question the state and fanaticisms of religion, and it's dangers to society. I have not seen Drive; being sued for anti-semiticism, but I imagine it's questioning more about the territorial aspects of religions; how they isolate and detriment people, and it's never better than racism. |

If the studios could successfully be sued after misleading trailers, then all studios would already be bankrupt. For instance, studios have been advertising Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street as a horror/thriller, advertising Jarhead as an action packed comedy about the Gulf War, and advertising Star Wars Episode I as actually being good.

facepalm....really.....really. You can't judge a movie based on its title and poster alone. Watch the trailer. Do some research if you're not sure to see a movie. Why don't we sue the makers of Abduction while we're at it. There was NO abduction.
