Default Plasma Owners

Do you have any burn-ins of the logo of tv stations like abc with the 5 rings and the espn logo and so on.
I am thinking of getting the vizio plasma VP42 but when I was in the avs forum come people were complaining of burn in from just having espn on for 2 minutes and some poeple didnt have any, and I was wondering if they watched a lot of the channels that have the logo on them.
I usually play video games for about an hour to 2 hours a day and watch a lot of sports on ESPN, MSG, FSNY, and YES. which all have logos on the bottom corner.
so should I not get a plasma and instead get an lcd and is there that much of a differnece of the PQ between the two because the Contrast ratio on the plasma is 15,000:1 and the lcd was 1000:1, I know vizio is coming out with some new lcd models at the end of the month but I dont know there contrast ratio yet.
thank

The burn-in you are refering too is not actually burn-in. It's "temporary image retention".

Indeed, if I leave it on a channel with a solid logo for a while, and turn off my cable box (thus the image goes black), you can see a fade outline of that particular logo .... but if you switch it to an other channel for a while, it completely dissapears again.

I play Resistance Fall of Man quite a bit on my Plasma, and never had any permanent problems with "burn-in".

If you google, or dig thru the threads here, you will see that that "temporary image retention" is nothing to worry about.

There are two types of "burn-in". The one mentioned earlier in this thread...the temporary kind. These are completely fine and your TV will recover. There is also a permanent burn-in. From what I have heard, you literally have to have to same image on your screen for 8+hours before it will become a permanent fixture on your screen. My TV is set to go off after 15 minutes if there is no signal, and three hours if you don't touch it at all. I have had zero signs of either "burn-in" on my screen.

Yes, this is image retention, not burn-in.

It will go away after a minute or two, or after an hour or two if it's pretty bad.

Oddly, when I use HDMI, the image retention is worse than when using component inputs. But my LG brand TV doesn't do HDMI very well -- LG doesn't know how to do HDMI well. I also have 1080i input problems on my LG 50" Plasma using HDMI. The text and images jump a bit, and pulse. If I run component, all works great.
