Default Onkyo 706 - 806?

I was wondering what would be the better choice for my setup

Polk monitor series
70 fronts
Cs1 center
30 surrounds

Svs pb10-nsd subwoofer

First, welcome to the forum! I must say you have excellent speakers and cannot blame you for asking the question above, as I too would want something that can drive those really well too. The two receivers are very similiar, but differ in really only one rather big area, and that is the 806 pumps out 130 watts per channel and the 706 is 100 watts per channel. That is a really nice bump up in power with the 806, and if money is not an issue, I recommend the 806. The only other thing that might be worth mentioning is that the 806 also upconverts component video sources, but the 706 does not.

But based only on the power between the two receivers, I would go with the 806, IMO.
