Default Denon 1910 or Pioneer VSX-21 Does it Matter?

I've been researching/listening to speakers and receivers for a couple of weeks now and I think I have narrowed my speaker choice down to the PSB T5's and a C5, but I need help deciding on a receiver.

I was set on the Denon 1910 but then I found some people are getting the Pioneer Elite VSX-21 for around the same price. I'm a little concerned about the warranty on the Pioneer since it seems like a bit of a work around to buy them "online" for that price. If it is definitely the better receiver I don't mind taking a bit of a risk with the warranty but if they are pretty evenly matched I would feel better going with the Denon. Does it really matter which one I choose?

the Pioneer is a better receiver. It is their Elite line which typically very good receivers. The Denon is nice too, however I believe its the 2300 series that starts their upper line which would be similar to the VSX-21/vsx-23

I think both receivers would pair nicely with the PSBs you are looking to get.

The Elite is better. The 21 has more power than the Denon 1910 and has much better connectivity as well. If you can get that Elite for around the same price, thats good.

Pioneer is better but the Denon can be purchased online for $400 fully warrantied. Can you get the Pio for that price?

No, and I'm leaning towards the Denon again. Where are you finding it for $400 new? I've found it at that price for an open box but not new.

I'm on my phone so maybe I'm just missing it, but I don't see the 1910 or 790 on their site at all...

Looks like there out of stock right now but the discount code will work with the 1610 or the 2310. I believe it's 25% off. Also, shipping is free.

No problem! Heck of a deal, especially considering it might not even be open box

@butcher2008 No doubt! I read on another thread where someone bought a refub 1910 and he couldn't tell if the box had ever been opened. From the sites you liked to it sounds like he got a new one as well.

@gtmorgan23 because I don't have an unlimited budget. I started out spending ~$800 and am now around $1500. I would rather spend the money on speakers.

Any Pioneer Elite receiver has a two year warranty and all you have to do is register your product on the Pioneer website.

One more thing to consider is that the 1910 doesn't have pre-outs while the Elite does, in case you ever want to connect an external amp.
