Default Did anything in your life change when you turned 40 years old or so?

I turned 40 late last year and I started looking at everyones age, I check another actor/actress's age like once a week or better.
I have checked the ages of at least 100 stars and I know that a good number of them are within 6 months or so of my exact age. And there are a few that I was surprised that they are younger.
Anyhow I never did this before, I figure its a tiny bit of mid-life crisis. lol!

As far as I know mid life crisis happens in mid 30s.

The single biggest/most common thing I've noticed is that things that used to heal in a day or two (minor cuts/bruises/etc.) can sometimes take as much as a few weeks to heal in your 40's (I'm 47).

Same here. Diagnosed with a liver disease, then finding out I had pre-cancerous cells throughout my colon, then the operations to take care of that. I've had a lot of problems resulting. I'm 36 and I've had 8 operations since I was 32.

If it were not for my girls being born in my 30's, I'd say they were a wash.

Hoping my 40's are better.

I'd say I developed a better, more optimistic perspective on life. I have been able to stop analyzing what could be different or better and, instead, embracing how things are. A great family, employment, a decent home and healthy children, wife and self.

In my 30's I was constantly looking for better. Better job, better stereo, better car, more cd's/dvd's, new new new, etc. It can/will become like a disease. Truth is, life is great if you can choose to accept all the greatness that exists every day.

Geez man, I wish you guys all the best. I hope I don't die of cancer, I quit smoking again recently. The first time I quit was in 2001, but then in 06' I was in a near death motorcycle accident which pretty much pulled my entire life out from under me... traumatic brain injury etc etc. I started smoking again in 07'. Since my working and short term memory are so bad I can very rarely just throw a movie in and watch it. But movies were my passion before my accident, I keep buying em but rarely watch em. Well I try to watch em anyhow, it takes me 3-4 days to watch one movie in the worst cases.

I always pray to God to take me and my family all at once if someone has to go id rather it be us all in one shot then nobody has to go thru that horrible pain of a family members death. But I already know it don't work that way most of the time.

God bless everyone in this thread!

I've noticed a couple of changes since hitting 40. Weight gain is the most prevalent. During my 30's I never exceeded 180 lbs. At 6'1" tall I was considered thin. I'm 2 years away from the BIG 5-0, and currently wegh 230 lbs. The metabolism has certainly slowed.

The 2nd thing I've noticed is rapid whitening of the lid. At 39, I had a full head of dark brown hair but I now have dark brown and white on the ol' pointed noggin'.
