USA Personal Plamsa Burn-in? Story

I know there are a million burn-in threads, but I wanted to share an actual observation and not just theory.

I have a Panasonic TH-50PZ85U professionally calibrated on the 'Custom' setting (Picture 65, Brightness 55). The 3 hour Auto-Shut off was 'Set' and the pixel orbiter set to 'Automatic'.

My son was watching Bolt. During the middle to last half of the movie, the TV shut-off, as we were watching something previously without touching anything on the TV. I turned the TV back on and was notified that 'No Action Shut Off was Activated'. Glorious. I then proceeded to leave the house, children in tow, and totally spaced the fact that the movie was still on.

I came back about 5 hours later, and the TV was off. I noticed that the Blu-ray player was still on. Right then I crapped my pants. I turned the TV on and sure enough, the title screen for Bolt was playing. That means that for approximately 2.5 hours the title screen was on with a relatively high picture setting. I changed the channel to watch regular TV and sure enough I could see everything from the movie.

The long and short of it is that it took 2-days (approximately 24hrs. of regular TV watching) for the 'Image Retention' to get to ridiculously unnoticeable (could still see it from 4 or 5 inches away). Now, a week later, I can't see anything and can again enjoy watching Blu-ray movies on my TV.

Yeah Panasonic! NO Burn-in!

awesome, burn is really is a thing of the past...sure there are a few isolated incidents now and then, heck even LCD can suffer with burn in. I have a friend who is a panny tech and told me it will take approx 16-18 hours of a static image to be truly burnt in on panny plasma these days! Ah i love my panny plasma
