How can it be "Director's Cut" and "Edited Version" at the same time?

If its R-rated, do we actually see WW rip off her top and perform a stage act (bonus points if you get the reference)

So they're bumping up the violence? It didn't need it, it was fine.

They're not adding toplessness just because they're Amazons, are they? That's stupid.

Dude, my above post is a joke (did you at least get the reference to Blake Edwards?)

Of course they're not adding nudity, this is an American production, after all, and the new MPAA rating would mention any frontal nudity in the first place.

I never saw this one, but I'll freely admit that I'm not totally comfortable with this revelation, as I can't imagine that WB/DC allowed any obviously R-rated content (be it language, nudity/sex or gore) to be animated for these films at all back in 2009, and I don't remember anything about any cuts being made, either. I await more detail, but I'm fairly confused, especially as these films have certainly become violent enough at supposed PG-13 levels (though this was given a 12 in the UK, so perhaps it's not as violent as some others).

That said, since a new cut would require a new encode, I'm all in for that. And I imagine that this was also done in order to sell the disc in Europe and Japan, since the original Blu-ray was only released in the US, Canada, the UK and Australia, while relegated to DVD elsewhere.

That trailer shows PG-13 at the end, so I guess the DC is a no-go.

Sweet! I have been looking for the slip to the original and now i don't need it anymore since this has an all new slip! I wonder if it will have any extra features since it's a commemorative edition?

Whaaaa?

They're doing too many of these DC animated releases. 3 a year was a lot as was, but now they're adding this, Vixen, Return of the Return of the Caped Crusaders, etc. Just too much animated DC flooding the market.

Guys, the original film was cut for a PG-13 back in 2009. Warners aren't just animating some additional violence just for the sake of it.

I vaguely remember the time when this came out. The Watchmen movie flopped at the box office, so DC/WB freaked out and edited down the Red Hood movie violence and I think this WW's violence as well (RH got hit the hardest, though). I remember talking to Bruce Timm at San Diego CC at the time and he was just kinda like "there's nothing we can do. the movie's are what they are now"

Great movie. As I recall it was pretty violent to begin with.

Well, this is disappointing:

Quote:
As the Warner Bros. Home Entertainment representative explained to CBR, the re-release was originally intended to restore the original footage, in hopes standards had changed and it could still receive a PG-13 — since it again received an R, the current plans are for the new version to be of the originally released PG-13 cut, excluding the added footage.
What a waste. It's a direct-to-video animated film. Who cares if it's still R rated? If anything, an alternate cut of the film would boost sales.

Hopefully Warners change their mind.

So it is a Commemorative Edition but the only thing that is different is the cover art? Seems rather pointless.
