Default KRP-600M question

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQ8bszu_bIg

This TV has no receiver...what does this mean? My cable will go to a receiver...from the receiver the signal will be translated via HDMI cable to the back of this set.

Does this set not have the ability to scan for TV channels? I don't understand the significance of not having a receiver other than cost....also it talks about a new video porting...since I would run an HDMI cable to this TV, do I care about any of the other jacks?

You are good without it if you have cable. I think one needs the receiver for OTA channels...but I could be wrong!

Isn't this the same as the 6020 (but w/o stand, internal receiver and speakers)?

Its closer to to an Elite/Sig-Pro Because its just a monitor & is ready for calibration. The 500M was $1,999 the other day. That's a sweet deal. We don't usually see the monitors because their "meant" for businesses.

Edit: These are not "ready" for ISFccc.

I thought we didn't see them because the US government, in its infinite wisdom, mandated that you could not market a display device as a TV in this country without including a tuner and speaker. Obviously, our elected officials don't know a thing about setting up an HT.

If that's true that the KRP-600M is really closer to the Elite, I really should get one. No point in paying extra for a tuner and speakers I don't need.

So if I use an antenna signal to the TV that goes through a Denon receiver...I'll pick up one of those boxes I guess...that will allow me to view all channels? This TV will scan and keep in memory channels that I can view yes?

From the 111fd, 151fd, 101fd, 141fd, krp 500, krp 600,

Can someone list in order of best to last for video performance? I know some are monitors, but i am trying to debate which one to go with as I dont watch much TV anyway.

This list was mentioned somewhere and i cant seem to find it.

Thanks

The KRP's /Signature Elites and Elites can all be Calibrated to perfection

The main difference is some models are fatter, some have more HDMI ports and some dont have an in built TV tuner

they have the same glass and same driving algorithms

wow the guy says a 500m is BETTER than anything else.

It is a lot to read but from what i gathered:

KRP500M
KRP600M
101FD
141FD
111FD
151FD

the 50inch screens are better than the 60 becasue of usage needed out of the 60 to immerse the whole screen for blackness.

I cant believe that the KRP which is a NON ELITE is actually better than the elite model....and that a 50 inch krm can b had for under 2k, And the 60 inch under 3k !!!

Please someone confirm this. Calling pioneer corporate - they tell me the elite 151fd/111fd is the king above anything ...

I asked them is it better than the KRM's...and they said yes for the primary reason that the KRM's cannot be ISF calibrated.

I'm sorry but I cannot put the KRP Kuro in front of the Elites. While the KRP's can kinda be calibrated, they lack the hole shabang', Day/night/Auto full pro-cali. They are great displays though & should not be written off. They are basically stripped down Signature models at a great price like the xx20 models are(price wise). Don't disregard the 5020/6020 models. I my self have been witness to my calibrated (greyscale only) 5020 compared with my 111FD in Pure mode with special settings in a different room, & me along with several other people having calibrations done, nor the calibrator him self (He's Calibrated some 450 Kuro's) could tell a difference.

Once the 111FD was fully calibrated we put them side by side, the difference was very minimal but there & I could notice it in a side by side comparison, most could not tell the difference at all. So all im saying is don't disregard the xx20 Kuro as crap because it cannot be fully calibrated. The xx20 series more often then not shows darker blacks and higher ANSI contrast ratios. All of my experiences in the land of the kuro's have been pointed out more then once by other reputable Pro-Calibrators & the like. I have a post somewhere on here of my experience with all my kuros being calibrated along with many others & including the KRP Kuro. I respect D-Nice & his opinion, but I see things a little different.

Im basically stuck and cant decide what to get..I have space which would fit a 50 or 60inch perfectly.

I can get a 151fd from best buy for 3999.00 + tax and a 111fd for $1999.00 + tax

The KRM 50 inch and 60 inch anyone can buy for $1800, and $3000 shipped.

Im confused on what to get. I just want to get the absolute best. All those prices are superb in my opinion.

I just want the best in video quality. Nothing else. All these units are the best but there is so much talk on how the KRM's are just unbelievably incredible that its tough to claim one as a victor over the other.

Best Buy has the 111FD for $1,999 ???? Or is this from an online retailer?

well negotiating the price of it. When you call magnolia and talk to someone - they look up on their system what current pricing is. My local magnolia tells me current pricing is $2599.

I talked her down and she said she can do it for $1999 and no lower...brand new sealed etc.

On the 60inch elite - they are all out of stock in Houston at all best buy locations but it can be ordered form warehouse - within 3 days. Their current system price is $4699...and i worked her down to $3999.00

Im debating whther to get one of the elites or th KRM's now. Im happy im this confused because I know ill get the king of TV's lol But just stressed trying to figure out what to go with!

They're all great plasmas. what should guide your decision are the following questions.

Do you need an internal tuner?

Do you need a stand?

Do you want a thicker screen?

If you answer no, get the KRP models. Why pay for an internal tuner/speakers/stand and end up with a plasma more than an inch thicker than the KRPs if you don't need it?

If you can get a 111FD for $1,999 ! Do it, now. Get it calibrated , Day/night/Auto & have the BEST & be done with it. Unless you want less calibration options & an inch thinner panel? Its not about needing a tuner speakers & stand, not in your situation anyway cause the price is basically the same for both (500M/111FD) $1,999 .

I was almost positive on one of the plasma threads, someone said D-nice did a comparioson and he basically said the krp500 was THE one to get in terms of PQ alone.
