Not sure what the issue really is here, though. It's not like it's a gimmicky process, like slow-mo. Or hyper-cam. It makes for exciting action sequences. No offense intended, but to me this would be like saying, "There are too many movies where people fire guns!" or "Man, that was just another movie with martial arts fighting!"

I didn't realize this was over played lol. District b13 is all i can think of besides a short short sequence here and there (casino royale). Also by itself i am sure many americans do not even know what this and have probably not been exposed. I have heard it mentioned a few times recently but only because apparently mtv did something with it recently. Think this has a lot of potential imo for future use in movies, as it is both really fun, and when done right makes for some amazing movie scenes.
Fully agreed with the statement from QuasidodoJr |

In the case of PoP:TSoT, there wasn't enough parkour. It should have been used not just for stunts but also directly influence how Dastan fights.
The only movie in recent memory that served as a showcase for parkour was Banlieue 13. It's sequel, Banlieue 13 - Ultimatum barely had any parkour sequences. Casino Royale and Babylon A.D. each feature only one parkour sequence respectively (and only the former was implemented as a standout sequence). So parkour is hardly played out in movies. If anything, its implementation has been mostly restrained. |

I am not making an argument. I am making a point that "Parkour", I get it. It does not have to be used like it is. People do not run away from cops like that. Really? Parkour is an art form that is used by common hero's and criminals? No! It does look cool. But just because of that reason is not enough for ME to put it in more movies. I was not stating a fact. It was an opinion. So roll your eyes at someone else. |

I like seeing Parkour in films. They help make exciting chase sequences and are a lot more entertaining to see than a regular chase scene. They're being used frequently, but you can think of it as entering the mainstream. Many many many films still feature gunfights, but people don't really complain.

If you can't do the game with utter geek-faithfulness, don't do the movie...On that one isolated example, we'll give them special license, since it's for a good cause. ![]() Now, the MTV show, yeah, that's pushin' the trend toward extinction-- But as for movies, we're saying "Okay, it's Persia, and 'Casino Royale' because that one scene was cool, but that's it--It was better as a sneaker commercial." "Parkour is showing up in too many movies lately" (that it is my opinion should be a given) Where do you see me making an argument? |

Personally, although parkour has appeared in some movies here and there it was never the focus. It's funny you mentioned Operation Condor since David Belle was inspired by martial arts when he co-developed parkour with Sébastien Foucan. As for the foot chases in the Rush Hour movies, they were simply foot chases. Unless you refer to all the wall bounding and vaulting which are Jackie Chan specialties he's been doing long before there even was such a thing as parkour. |
