Default Samsung BD-P2500 F/W Ver 2.5

This was just released today. When I get home, I am going to check to see if it updated automatically via the internet. Otherwise I'll do a USB update.

Don't forget to re-tweak all of your settings, since the firmware updates reset them to the defaut.....grrr...you'd think they'd do a firmware update to fix that...lol

I waited for the ethernet update. It showed up this morning and I ran it. It took a while to download and install but it worked just fine.

Does anyone know what the details are for this 2.5 firmware update? The Samsung site lists the previous changes made with the previous firmwares (like how it says under the 2.4 details... "Supports DTS-HD HRA/MA Decoding"...), but there's nothing listed under the 2.5 file link.

I also just ran the 2.5 update on my BD-P2550 via USB. it said "New firmware available" but said that the current and new versions were both named 090104.01.XAA (or whatever it was). I found that odd but figured if it wasn't new, it wouldn't have said "new", right?

It has compatibility tweaks for a few movies,.... no other functionality that I know of.

I've never had a problem with my 2500, but ever since this new upgrade, I can't get through a single Instant Streamed Netflix movie/show without it freezing up on me. Interesting, because this upgrade was only supposed to be about compatibility with BD's. Is anyone else having this problem? Is there any way I can "undo" the upgrade and go back to 2.4

Yeah, I noticed that too. Have to reboot the player and then it works.

I sent them an email but it looks like they've rolled back to f/w ver 2.4 dated 4/20/2009?

I just got off the phone with level 2 CS. They checked into it and since this just happened today they said that they didn't have too much information but since the date is embedded in the file name that it looks like it is a roll-back until they get the netflix bugs worked out. It should update automatically via the internet soon and if it doesn't, then doing a USB or CD update is recommended.

Hmmmmmm,... web site is now showing version 2.4. I put 2.5 on the other day, and I just watched a 3 hour Netflix movie (The Postman). I picked it because of it's length. It never stopped once.

I even stopped it during the credits,... and went back and forth a couple of times,.... no problems at all !

I must have the only well behaved 2500 out there.

BTW,... I used the CD update to install the firmware.

I haven't had a problem watching an entire movie, in fact I've watched two, including stopping, pausing, even coming back after ½ and hour or so. I just need to re-boot my system to get the movie to load initially.

I'm wondering if they signed a contract with Bill Gates for this latest software update?

The "down-date" f/w release is actually a re-release of version 2.5 dated today (click on CD or USB link for date). Mine is downloading it as we speak. Samsung sure got on that quick. This better fix it!

EDIT: Works great now!

I was hoping the new firmware(s) [either 2.4 or 2.5] would help fix my BD-P2550 play the Collector's Edition of 'Casino Royale', but no luck so far. I've only got a lil' under 40 titles and of the ones I've watched, the CE of 'Casino Royale' is the only one I've noticed with any glitches, but I don't think it's the disc. The "glitch" in question is, when the movie starts...my player keeps showing in the top left corner "BonusView On" or "BonusView Off"...even though I don't have the BonusView content set to play at all and when I press my "Info" button on my remote, it shows that the BonusView is off on both video and audio (there aren't any subtitles on either). It's quite annoying having that pop up every few seconds!

Has this happened with anyone else on the BD-P2550 with this movie or others?

There's somewhere you can go in the settings to turn off the BonusView messages. I had that problem watching Batman Begins.

The settings on the player or on the disc itself?
