I believe the disc needs to be 3-D.

The disc has to be 3D and you have to have 3D glasses, hoping the ones I got with the second Friday the 13th sequel are good.

Thanks, I watched My Blood Val. and I rented it from the Red Box and I put my HDTV in 3-D mode and it appeared to look like it was in 3-D, but we have no glasses, I ordered some from E-Bay for a few bucks.

What brand and model TV are you using for 3D? I thought the 3D Blu-ray movies were just using anaglyph so any TV could be used but it sounds like you have some other option.

The problem is, the kind of 3d your wanting (real d) is not included on any home video format yet (and probably wont be for another year or two). So it'll be 3d ready once it is released, but it may be awhile until compatible titles are released.

Thanks Suntory, so you mean these Bluray discs being released as 3-D really aren't 3-D, thats a bit confusing.

They are in 3D, but an inferior form that does not require special equipment. Currently, the only way that 3D is available on home video is in the old red/green anaglyph form, which requires glasses with one red filter and one green filter. It distorts the colour and has significant ghosting, but it works on any TV with no special equipment. Nothing currently on the market uses any special features from your TV.

There is still some debate regarding how 3D will be "properly" implemented on Blu-Ray. It will likely require a new player.

To see 3-D you need each eye to see a different image. The BD's out now use the same 3-D tech that has been used on TVs (and used to be used in theatres) for years, coloured lenses. They work with any display.
3-D ready sets are to be used with other forms of 3-D and other glasses, where the images don’t need to be colour shifted.

There not the 3d bieng used in theatres know with the black polorized lenses. The only 3d available for home video at the moment is the old (and imo crappy) two coloured spectrograph 3d (generally with red and blue glasses). any tv can play this kind of 3d, the 3d ready your tv is for, is the ability to play two 'polarized' images at the same time (the new tru d technology which is fantastic).

I had the impression it was for shutter-glasses, not a polarized display, but using LCD lens that sync with your TV set.
