Default Fifth Element (Best Version?)

I'm sure this has been discussed thoroughly before but I'm looking into importing this from Amazon.de since its region-free and has the bonus features but not sure if this is the best version available. Not sure how the picture quality looks but I'm hoping someone can help me here.

Fifth Element isn't listed in that thread, so that doesn't really help the OP.

Actually it is, right under The Fifth Element where it should be.

I've seen the Gaumont transfer and IMHO the U.S. transfer looks better.

The US remastered version of the Fifth Element is really good.

How weird... Ctrl+F didn't bring it up for me, and neither did manually looking for it. I must be exhausted. Thanks for pointing it out to my tired eyes.

I must admit, I do like having the rear center channel of sound on the German DVD, the back surround soundfield is highly active and feature a wider scope.

Am I correct in understanding that none of the releases are really "complete"?

I think this is one of those instances where you buy the US BD and keep the 2-disc DVD set as well.

The US BD has excellent PQ and 7 bucks at wal-mart but yet there's only one extra and i'm thinking of getting the UK region B special edition BD for the extras and i hear the picture quality is great too.

Not as good as the U.S. disc IMHO.

Importing can be a pain depending on your luck. Just get the US BD and the US Ultimate Edition. Put everything in a 3-disc case, and you've made yourself a nice combo pack.

I read that the US one has a more "realistic" colour palette and the Gaumont one has a more colourful blown out look. Thing is, Fifth Element isnt exactly a realistic film is it?! I like the colourful blown out look of the Gaumont myself - suits the film - but I havent seen the Sony one to compare.

The Region B U.K. and French Region Free discs have the approved Gaumont transfer that looks vastly superior to the very digital looking U.S. disc. Both discs also contain features not on the U.S. version.

The Gaumont transfer looks so soft, has overblown contrast and is washed out to death with so much aggressive DNR that it just kills the detail completely. The U.S remaster does have a harsh digital look, but its far stronger then the Gaumont.

I've got an australian release, can anyone tell me which transfer it's based on?
There are these two in Australia:
https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-F...Blu-ray/12653/
https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-F...Blu-ray/13585/

Mine is the second one.
