Default Need a Blu-ray player!

Ok I currently have a Kuro Elite 50", VSX-1021K, and Def Tech ProCinema 600 speakers for my setup. I'm currently using a PS3 for my blurays but have been reading that bitstreamed decoding is better? I would love to see my display light up the correct audio decoding instead of PCM.

What would be a good affordable player for me? Is the setup for audio in these players all the same for lossless audio?

Internally decoding the advanced audio formats to PCM in an older PS3 model is the same quality as bitstreaming. The older PS3 models do lossless audio by converting the Dolby True HD or DTS HD Master audio to PCM.

If you want a standalone Blu-ray player, all the current models will bitstream and convert to PCM the lossless audio formats. I would recommend a OPPO, Panasonic, or Sony Blu-ray player. OPPO and Panasonic Blu-ray players have a better DVD upconversion. Some of the Sony’s have extremely fast loading times for Blu-ray discs and they play SACD’s like the OPPO BDP-93. Panasonic and Sony also offer a 24fps DVD feature.

Default my 80gig backwards compatible bitstreams flawlessly

Is it just me, or can everyone with an 80gig backwards compatible now do full DTS-MA bitstreaming? I think it might be the newest update, but I can simply go into the settings (where you can skip, play, audio settings, angle settings) the menu that pops up during playback of a blu-ray. In the audio menu it allows me to pick LPCM or bitstream. Tried with blu-rays encoded in both 5.1 and 7.1 DTS-MA and it worked like a dream, lit up the DTS-MA on my receiver and all. Please let me know if anyone else can or if I somehow have a one in a million type unit...in which case Its FOR SALE!
