Default What should i get

I really want surround sound system you can see in my signature what I am working with, I love my system but I have to get a surround sound system and I really don't want to spend over 300 I think all in one is probably my best bet but I really have no idea, any info would be very helpful thanks so much. I know I should take my time and buy a couple pieces of equipment at a time but I just want the system to sound good fast you know? This site rocks and I appreciate the help!

Get some patience in all seriousness. If you're going to go home theater in a box, then Onkyo offers the best packages imo. You're still going to have to spend more than $300 though to get something worthwhile, Tiger Direct has some affordable Onkyo packages, I think you should wait and save for this one which isn't too expensive.

Default Indeed

There are some systems out there for $300 and less, but they are primarily junk. As ZedsDead said, an Onkyo system is by far your best bang for the buck. Watch the web for the best prices.

A 3rd vote for Onkyo.

If you absolutely have to stay within $300, do check out the Onkyo HT-S3200 on Amazon or some other resellers. Its probably your best bet, but do keep in mind that the HDMI on this system is pass-thru. You'll have to make sure you have enough inputs for all your connections.
Of course, it would be better to wait, and build it piece by piece. That way you can get the best prices

Good luck..

Have a look at Audiogon and/or CanuckAudioMart for some gently used equipment. You can save over 50% quite easily!

Thumbs down Please think this through

I totally agree with ZedsDead in that you need to wait and budget more money towards the audio section of your home theater. Many HTiB's really just begin to scratch the suface when it comes to providing good/realistic soundstage for your movies, especially one in the $300 range. Don't get me wrong, I do own a HTiB ( for my dinningroom) but I don't consider it seriously for movie watching.....If you look at many of the systems on these and other pages you'll discover most people spent more on amplification and speakers than they did on their screens.........You can get a decent HTiB now and upgrade the speakers later (easier on the wallet) and so on until you get something truly worthwhile..I would like to add Yamaha as a manufacturer of a good starter kit .......... Good luck..
