Well I finally took the plunge and bought a receiver and speakers all on the same day but now I have a problem I plugged everything into the receiver including my cable box and my ps3 via hdmi and then used hdmi out on the receiver to the television. I can get cable signal but ps3 nothing shows up no audio no video I've tried turning the cable box off and just running hdmi input and also moving channels but I also can't seem to get the 820 menu to show up either. I don't think I have a bad receiver but can anyone point me in a direction?

Yeah I gave that a shot still nothing I know when I turn it to BD for input it shows hdmi but I still can't get audio or video. Do I have to turn off the Cable box or anything else? Yeah sorry for questions but man I've never had this problem wiring before.

I know you said you've always used the PS3 through HDMI, but did the player maybe reset itself if it was unplugged when you switched everything around? |

Trix, Sony receivers are about the most plug and play receivers made, you don't have to assign anything unless it can upscale video, then you have to tell it what input to receive the AV from. The 820 cant upscale so there is no assigning.

Thanks for the info. I guess the only part of my original post that holds valid, then, is making sure that the PS3 is plugged into the HDMI input labelled BD, or checking to make sure the PS3 didn't magically reset itself.

Thanks guys for all the ideas I was able to get everything working after I reset multiple times. Looks like I'll have to make a gallery soon.
