Default Blu-ray case dimensions

Hello all -- I have kind of a strange question. I am building custom cabinets for my movie collection and will soon be entering the Blu-Ray era. My question is, is the case of a Blu-Ray movie the same size as standards DVD cases? I just want to make sure I have the correct height/depth layed out.

thanks --

Buy a movie and use it for your dimensions. You're getting a BD player soon right? start building your collection now. Although some titles cases are a little larger like the Discovery series.

Well, I dont know how they look in the states but here in Europe all are about half as thin as the DVD cases. Only Twenty Century Fox Blue Rays are thicker, and look kind of old fashioned!

Bye

Not sure how other titles are but I got the Exorcism of Emily Rose from amazon UK and the thickness of the case is the same as a keepcase DVD, not thin like the US Blu-rays (the height was the same as ours)

I don't have case dimensions, and yes you should just buy a movie
They're slightly thicker than DVD thinpacks, and about 1.5-2in shorter than a standard DVD keepcase. Same width

Has anyone noticed two different cases.

same size and color but just the edges are more rounded, compared to my previous BD.

I bought some BD from this site and I got more rounded edges.

I hope I didn't buy a pirated BD.

I bought it from this deal.

There are more than two kinds. I think someone said three or something(?). Aaron is right this asked posted before. (Couple months ago)

The worst ones are those that have this tab on the side. You have to pull the tab then open the case. Nice idea but not really needed or implemented will.

Exclamation Widths and Types (Cases)

Hey all, was just wondering about the widths of cases in US and UK, I only have two Blu-ray movies, Casino Royale which was sent by Sony as a free gift which is a smaller width and different type of closure case, and then X:3 The Last Stand, which was part of a deal when I bought my PS3.

The latter is a 'normal' Blu-ray case size with a width of 1.4cm. Was just wondering which is the 'norm' for all the films, Im guessing the larger 'normal' 1.4cm width but just wanted to know before I started actually buying some!

I live in the UK by the way, but all replies are welcome!

Cheers!

The larger cases are normal in the UK, but I did see Apocalypto in HMV in what looked like a slimmer case like the free version of Casino Royale, but without the silly mechanism to lock it shut.

I think the slimmer cases are normal in the US.

I live in the U.S. and the typical Blu-ray case here is 1.1cm thick.

Off topic, I know, but my Casino Royale came with the "locking" deal also . . . but did you know all of them have this? If you open the case and push the locking piece in, there are two snaps where you can snap it in and it's like a regular BD case. Just thought I'd share.

I hate those things and do not understand why they were designed like that. I have heard of some users who rip off the tabs completely. They are on a number of different titles.

I like the locking mechanism, it looks cool when you lock it to the inside of the case (this way you cancel the locking mechanism out).
