Uncompressed PCM Audio Question

Good morning,

Straight to the question: "Does Uncompressed 5.1 PCM audio travel by way of 6 RCA jacks (5.1 analog out to 5.1 analog in) and/or by way of HDMI ?"

I believe is is only by the way of HDMI.

No, it also works via multi-channel (5.1) analogue output, which is very handy if (like me) one's amp/ processor lacks HDMI audio processing.

Correct. You might want to compare the DACs of the two. If you have fairly good receiver (like a Denon or Onkyo) my guess would be that it converts your digital signal (coming through HDMI) better than your player.

For several years now, SACD and DVD-A have sent uncompressed high resolution multichannel audio (2.8MHz DSD for SACD and 24bit/96kHz PCM for DVD-A) throughout the 6 analog jacks of players.

Yes, I'm aware of that, what confuses me is all of the so called high resolution codecs - DD-HD, DTS HD Master, DD-True HD, etc. If I have the decoding capabilities, then which provide the "best" audio experience ?
