Default avchd to bd-r workflow help

i got the sony hdr-sr10 and a lacie blu ray burner on a mac...what is your work flow from the camera to burn to bd disc?

i know nothing about video, tried with imovie then toast 10..but the quality sucks!

help please!!!!!
