Hi Rhett,

Also consider the Herbie's Tenderfeet as an alternative:

I just picked up the Blackdiamond cones MKIII earlier and it made a heck of a difference.

So far:

When playing Queen greatest hits CD, I normally crank up the volume of the Arcam to around 60 or so but was surprised to hear more detail at lower volumes now at around 50-52 and the bass now has more extension going to the listening position.

Evanessence- MY IMMORTAL, I can now hear the parting of Amy Lee's lips and the click/pop of her saliva as opens her mouth before she sings.

Tori Amos Under The Pink: Tori's subtle breaths before and after each line is more defined and alot clearer.

Sheesh! Now I feel like picking up 3 more for my Arcam

*As of this writing the AVR 600 is still in the middle of the break in process and probably has 24hrs tucked under its belt.

Hi Rhett,

Before buying anymore of the Black Diamond cones, read the comments/reviews of the Herbies Tenderfoot; some comment about the Black Diamond cones and also expensive footers:

http://herbiesaudiolab.home.att.net/sqreview.htm

Steve (Herbie) is fast at shipping. Also there is a discount when you spend as I recall over $200.

Thanks Rich. I'll do that. I need somewhat shorter cones anyways for the AVR600 as I only have a little ove an inch of clearance above the unit and it runs hot(but not as bad as my old Onkyo 605 and Denon 3808CI)

BTW, Rich: the Millenium CD mat we were talking about weeks ago does not fit on the CDP as the CD tray of the Naim is weird
I also tried flipping the center channel per your recommendation but has no significant changes/improvements.

I just had to say- I wish I could hear this on your set-up. I saw them my senior year in college right before they got big. 2000 person bar/venue and the ticket cost $4- it was simply amazing. Amy could sing the obituary section and make it sound GREAT.

Would these vibration pads help with the SQ of my current set-up. Or do I not have to worry about it at my current level.

Rhett,

You may wish to try the Herbies Black Hole or possibly the new grungebuster Black CD Mat:

The noisefloor has bee significantly lowered due to the fact that I have new power cords as well. Most noticeable is the fuller, more rounded bass. And to think I'm still using a monster power conditioner Grevlin, whenever you're in Chicago dude; gimme a PM-it'll be a treat for you.

I can probably order 10 of them to start with and put them on my favorite CDs. My only thing is that I don't have surgeon's hands and fear of wrinkling the the mats.

Rhett,

The Black Holes are easy to install and if they do not lie quite right, just lift and reposition. When new they are really really sticky and hold quite well.

Cool! Which feet do you recommend for my AVR 600? I only have a little over an inch of clearance from the top of my avr? Thanks Rich!

Rhett,

Select the height of the Herbies Tenderfoot based on the difference in the height of the factory installed feet. You just want to lift the component so that it resting on the Tenderfoot (and not the factory installed feet) which will be sitting on the platform.

IMHO, as far as aesthetics is concerned, it'll look better than the sub dude. I was gonna buy that along with the auralex mopads but was turned off by the looks.

Jason,

I am not sure which would be better. I placed my big Epik Conquest on top of 4 of the Herbies antique brass with db neutralizing material domes. I placed 4 of them with dome side down on the carpet and they have worked quite well for me.

I can not find these presently on the Herbies website. But, it would be worth either a phone call or an e-mail to Steve to find out if these are still available. He has a lot of products still available I believe that are not listed on the website.

Rhett,

Double check the height before ordering. Just make sure that the Arcam will sit on the Tenderfoot and not on the factory installed feet when it is placed on the platform. Also, it easiest to have the unit on sitting on the platform and to place the Tenderfoot under 1 corner at a time until all 4 are supporting the component.

rded, You can also look at the Vibrapod products, they work quite well. And when you are ready to replace the monster piece, check out audience power components, they are superb. And the audience Au24 cable is the best I have never heard, meaning it just lets all the music through, with no sonic signature!

Hmmm...I am mainly concerned in isolating the sound. I have a wife, I have candles, I have pretties, I have rattle. I want it to stop...

Asthetics is nice, but more concerned about isolation.
