Default Public Enemies anyone?

Anyone else as excited to see this movie as I am?! IMO, we have not had a good gangster movie for quite some time and this movie seems to have all the makings of a top notch film. What do you guys think? Do you think it will do well?

I think it will considering it has Depp and Bale in the leads

I'm definitely looking forward to this. It should do well, but i'm not sure what action/comic book/popcorn movie it'll be up against this summer. That'll make a big difference in box office rake. Probably not gonna be a blockbuster regardless of what it's up against though.

I can't wait but is it considered a "gangster" film? I didn't think the lead character that the film is based on was considered a "gangster". Might be mistaken though.

They should have released this in the fall closer to the Oscars. Films that are released then are mainly the ones that end up being nominated and in some cases win.

Comes out the week after Transformers. I'm looking forward to it and hope it does well, think by them releasing it in July versus the fall more people will see it unlike 3:10 to Yuma. I know very few people who saw that one and I really liked it!

Well John Dillinger was a pretty big bank robber that was pretty much an idol in the 30's, so maybe not necessarily a true "gangster" film (more like Bonnie and Clyde), but it is still in those times of "the gangster". Maybe it could be considered more of a "true crime" film

yeah, it's considered gangster, but it's not mob/mafia style i wouldn't think. Dillinger was a criminal, but i don't think he had ties to the mob or anything.

This is one of only four movies I want to see before November. So yeah, I'm pretty pumped for it, Bale and Depp are two of the best actors of our generation.

Will not miss this one. Dillinger, Pretty Boy Floyd, Bonny & Clyde, they are names we all know. Robbers who became famous without links to any mob.

Nothing, and I mean nothing, could be a more exact defenition of a "Gangster" movie.

The Feds try to take down notorious American gangsters John Dillinger, Baby Face Nelson and Pretty Boy Floyd during a booming crime wave in the 1930s

Those names are not only synonymous with the word, they were darn near what created the word.

The group known as the "first Dillinger gang" included Pierpont, Clark, Charles Makley, Edward W. Shouse, Jr., of Terre Haute, Harry Copeland, "Oklahoma Jack" Clark, Walter Dietrich and John "Red" Hamilton. Homer Van Meter and Lester Gillis (a.k.a. Baby Face Nelson) were among those who joined the "second Dillinger gang" after he escaped from the county jail at Crown Point, Indiana.

Baby Face Nelson
Born December 6, 1908(1908-12-06)
Chicago, Illinois, U.S.A.
Died November 27, 1934 (aged 25)
Barrington, Illinois, U.S.A.
Status Deceased
Occupation gangster, bank robber
Spouse Helen Gillis

Pretty Boy Floyd
Born January 3, 1904(1904-01-03)
Adairsville, Georgia, U.S.A.
Died October 22, 1934 (aged 30)
East Liverpool, Ohio, U.S.A.
Status Deceased
Occupation gangster, bank robber

Not only two good leads, but Michael Mann directing as well. Should be interesting.

Hopefully it's better than Miami Vice.

Can't wait to see Frankie Machine also. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0490242/

Depp as the bad guy, Bale as the good guy. This movie is going to be sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet. Too bad I will have to wait till the holidays (like the rest of us) to enjoy this movie under my own roof, with it in my ps3.

Actually, Miami Vice wasn't that bad. Visually, I think it's one of Mann's best. Storywise and pacing though is subject to one's opinion. I was expecting more but it ended up being just average. Anyways, I'm confident Mann will redeem himself with Public Enemies.
