Default Hmm Ps 3 bluetooth remote

Not sure how long the price is going to last but I was checking out best buy and they had the remote for $14 vs checking today at walmart $24.

I will be picking one up on Friday because using the controller is downright painful sometimes.

Any word on battery life?

If it's the official PS3 BD Remote the battery life is great. It uses normal batteries, it's not a charging remote.
I've had the same batteries in mine for over a year and it's only now getting down to one bar.
My only issue with the remote is I always accidentally turn it on when I pick up the remote to move it or what not. Any button that is slightly pressed will kick your PS3 on.
But it's well worth $14 so I would grab it.

Yeah it's the Sony remote that's the lowest non sale price I've seen for it I don't think I should have an issue with it turning on since I leave it where I wont have to move it much other then when I'm watching hing a movie.

Yup, it sure is the official remote. I've had mine since the 2008 & it's great! The battery life on it is outstanding! You better snatch this up if you're in the market!

It's definitely worth it, and my remote had the same batteries for 3 years before I had to change it. Granted, once I turn a BD on, I don't play with the remote a lot, but still...Standard AA's that really seem to last.

PS3 controller painful???

It took me less than 15 seconds to figure it out and I have not once had a single reason to opt out of using it in favour of a remote. I already have enough remotes cluttering my viewing area. I'm not going to add more clutter with a device that does exactly what each of my 3 PS3 controllers already do.

That's a good deal though for anyone who uses the PS3 solely as a Blu-ray player since the PS3 controller is completely uneeded.

my thing is I game with mine and I always find when Im done with the movie and I want to play it's almost dead..

Or gaming and it's almost dead when it's movie time..

If you want just simple play pause then the controller is fine. But the extra buttons that I don't need to bring up the menu helps..

Having said this it works in Netflix and Hulu + as well right?

I hated the controller in Hulu + If you lay it on the bed and one of the triggers gets pressed it would fast forward in the show I was watching.

It works with Netflix. I don't know about Hulu+, but I would assume that it does. I love my remote. It's not that I find the controller challenging, its that I find it annoying to use when watching a movie. I would rather have a legitimate remote.

It does work with all the multimedia apps but for some odd reason doesn't work with Qore episodes.Anyways, it's a great deal for a dependable & sturdy remote!! I hope you enjot it!!

Ummmm.... take 2 seconds and turn the controller off?

Or.... set the PS3 settings to turn off the controller for you after 5 or 10 minutes without use? DOUBLE

you seem to be the only one that seems "upset" I picked up the remote.. I've had my PS3 for about a year now and I know what shortfalls the controller has for operating media stuff on the PS3..

First of all having the controller turn off after 10 min is a pain because shows I watch are not 10 min long.. and say I want to go back I have to turn the controller back on (remember it's not instant) then go back..

And for turning the controller off you have the same issue as I stated above.

I can't imagine why anyone who uses their PS3 regularly for media would pass up on the remote for $14 (or even retail price, for that matter). It is clearly superior to the game controller for media playback.

Woah... I'm not saying that the remote isn't a good investment for some. Please don't misinterpret. I just constantly read about people b!tching and complaining about certain things regarding the controller. I just have an opinion that is based on having a level of patience that requires a max of 2 or 3 seconds per action.

I'm just trying to be a voice of reason that says a $14 investment isn't the necessity that some people think it to be. Especially since you will already have the controller lying around anyhow and it is quite simple to use. Adding the remote saves a few seconds, but it adds another piece of equipment to the living room table. I've used the controller for just shy of 5 years to play my media. And I use it for A LOT OF MEDIA. I've also had the chance to use the PS3 remote with the system. It really doesn't save much time or make anything that much easier than when I use the controller.

It just confuses me that there are so many people who say stuff like, "the controller is so painful to use." Or, "the remote makes my life so much easier." There really isn't that much of a difference for adding another piece of hardware to my living room.
