Any news about Star Ocean 4 for PS3?

This is what I was missing in the 360 version.

- Support of DTS 7.1 (or wait, it's DVD-9. Crap!)
- Japanese voice-overs
- Online side-quests

Assistant producer of Star Ocean 4, Hajime Kojima: "Regardless of whether or not we release a Director's Cut, during production, due to capacity issues, we had to cut a variety of things".

They seemed to have compromised the original. The game didn't run well on 360 the game was terrible along with those horrible english voice-overs. This game need a fair treatment! They have to make a complete version for PS3 so we can experience the true universe of Star Ocean 4.

I think since the game bombed (surprise surprise) they're probably not interested in throwing more money at it.

Damn all those 360 owners they have killed an established franchise which became successful thanks to us Playstation fans. And Wada is an hypocrite who made this stupid decision to make Star Ocean 4 exclusive for 360.

I deep down hope they release star ocean 4 on the ps3, its something I hold very close to my heart.

If tri-ace owns the rights to Star Ocean and can find a distributor then who knows. They are making there first game away from Square so there is always a hope.

But I won't be holding my breath.

Thanks to Wada's retarded decision to make it 360 exclusive it bombed hardcore and probably tarnished the SO brand.

I doubt they will spend the money to bring it to the PS3. It's too little, too late as they have lost the day and a date sales that could have made it a sales success.

Wada confirmed recently that due to poor sales (duh), The Last Remnant is unlikely to see a PS3 version, despite having been originally anounced for PC, 360 and PS3. What's great is that with their payoff, MS just ensured that PS3 owners might never see TLR (Apparently it's not very good, but it would have been nice to have a -chance- at trying it on PS3).

SO4 might just see the same fate...

I keep hearing that SO4 sucks. It's probably better we don't get to play it, as I still have fond memories of the series, which, in my mind, ends with SO3.

It's funny that the 360 is killing the jrpg genre. The games may not be the highest quality, but I got to think they would sell better on the ps3 where you have a lot of psx/ps2 owners who ate these games up...

I personally expect things from star ocean that I cannot expect from other rpgs or I would rate every rpgs a 1/10, theres a charm there that just doesn't exist in other games..

at least me personally, im a fan of the star ocean series... I purchased 3 copies of star ocean 2nd story, and plan on buying the psp remake, I bought a psp just to play the star ocean 1 remake...

I hope you understand... deep down I doubt it.

FYI if you the PSP remake you are talking about is SO: Second Evolution I just picked it up on clearance at Target for $9.98 today

Wrong, if you love RPG's and only have a PS3 you are missing something a lot of something. I'm currently in the middle of SO4 now and loving it, I just wish I didn't have to spend 400 dollars extra to play a bunch of RPG's.

Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Eternal Sonata, Tales of Vesperia, The Last Remnant, Star Ocean 4.

4 of 6 JRPG's that a lot of people are missing out on.
Hell even the Wii, is getting Arc Rise Fantasia, that Monolith game, another Tales game and already has a Tales game.

Which is funny. I read so much BS from 360 fan ******s that are saying "it won't sell JRPGs on PS3 in North America. 360 sells shitload of JRPGs more than PS3".

Silly statement by someone who understimate the proven JRPG fanbase on PS3 because games like Valkyria Chronicles, Disgaea 3 and Encharted Arms + Eternal Sonata didn't have great sales on PS3. You can't compare SRPGs to JRPGs. Jeez, they have smaller brains than I thought.

I wonder if SRPG doesn't sell at all on 360. Just seeing games like Spectral Force 3, Operation ??? and another game from Atlus that tanked largely. They didn't even reached 5k. Pathetic! While Disgaea sold 100k and Valkyria Chronicles is at 120k right now and it's still selling.

Star Ocean 4 would have sold PS3s and the game itself would have performed better on PS3. No doubt about it. Just make it a complete version and people will buy it. Too bad that 360 version was crap thanks to limited DVD-9.

Would be interesting to find the sales numbers for Eternal Sonata on both consoles.

I know FFXIII will sell well on the 360, just because it's a huge franchise that everyone knows.

But I have to think the lesser known titles would do better on the ps3.

You're forgetting Folklore, VC, Final Fantasy XIII Versus, Demon's Souls, Disagea 3 and Cross Edge. They're probably some I'm forgetting too.

You're absolutely right there. Final Fantasy will sell well on 360 because of it's name. But seeing smaller JRPGs like Star Ocean, Shin Megami Tensei, Suikoden, Valkyrie Profile and many more that is not FF will sell better on PS3.

Star Ocean 4 have already proved that. It sold like shit because it was still in beta. Make it on blu-ray and fill the disc with lot's of stuff and take off that last-gen sound and put in DTS 7.1.

I'm sure that Magna Carta II is going to bomb. Another JRPG that will waste it's time on 360. But TBH the first game was not that really great.

But if that team TOSE under tri-ace is making a port of Star Ocean 4 on PS3 they better make it superior.

Bless you good sir, I picked up the first remake alongside my psp, must be honest I haven't seen target placing it at that price point ill be aware to look closer then.

They might still port it if they realize that it bombed because of platform. Of course, I still expect Wada to keep being a bonehead, so until the board throws him out it's less likely.

And ppl here have the right idea: Taking MS money is killing RPG franchises by making them seem unpopular. I've been saying this all along.

Just look and see if you local target has ANY PS3 or PSP RPGs (PSP especially). If they have the game you want, and you can stand to wait (and check weekly), you will be able to get whatever RPG you want for cheap. My local Target had like four (!) copies of Final Fantasy Tactics (PSP) for $5 each. At this time, I checked GameCrazy, and they were giving $7 trade-in-credit for FFT.... It wasn't worth the gas to go pick them up, though (other side of town.)

I think there are two reasons why people say SO4 "sucks". 1. It's on 360, and it's NOT Halo (or Gears of War). 2. SO fanboys hated (with a passion) Star Ocean 3: Till the End of Time. Personally, TtEoT was my first SO game, and I *loved* it. I played 150 hours my first play through and didn't come anywhere NEAR all the extra goodies. Having a similar "trophy" system from SO3 on SO4 on the PS3 would be spectacularly awesome! I figure if SO4 is anything like SO3, "fanboys" will hate it.

Here is a comment about the "360 sells more RPGs" comment: Besides that being an outrageous lie, anyone that says that forgets that these games get released in JAPAN first. Making SO4 for the PS3 would net a HUGE profit in Japan. From there, it would not be hard to port the game over to us.

Question, though. Through all of Microsoft's shady dealings, has the 360 been selling any more systems over in Japan? I'm curious to see if their "master plan" is working very well for them, or if Japanese gamers are unwilling to buy an unproven system just for a few core RPG games....
