Default Help getting online

Hi guys,

Ok, I am having a problem getting online with the PS3. I just got a replacement machine (faulty laser), and havent had much luck connecting to the network since. I am going mad trying everything.. Even the "Easy" set up for getting online fails when trying to obtain the IP address. When it does obtain the address, the playstation network fails.

What am I doing wrong? When I had my previous PS3 I opened up all the ports needed for NAT2 and I was never having a problem. I had given the ports a IP address, which, I should manually input on the PS3 when setting up the network settings right? These are the same.. But I am getting nothing. The internet works on every other laptop in the house.

What am I doing wrong? Any suggestions? Using a Belkin N1 Router, but like I said I didn’t have a problem with my previous PS3.

Maybe try setting your PS3 to a static IP address.

Yeah I tried this..maybe I did it wrong.

I used the guide on portforward.com

I created a static IP and called it 192.168.2.17

I then went in to my router settings and enabled the static IP address - is this correct?

So when I am setting up the network on my PS3 I would have to manually input the IP address, and use the static IP address, right?

Did you try calling back Sony? You shouldn't have to change anything if your previous PS3 worked just fine without any network changes.

Also note that PSN was downt. Might want to wait until that gets cleared up before you go troubleshooting (not sure if it's back up yet now from maintenance, might be, haven't turned my PS3 on to check).
