Default Sharp BD-HP21U

Well I just bought the Sharp BD-HP21U Blu-Ray Disc Player from Sears. It is a floor model. I saw it in the clearance for $59.93. I said wow what a deal. So I bought it. Went to the movie place and rented the movie "Taken" on Blu-Ray movie. Came home hooked it up via the HDMI out then to the back of my new Samsung 40" 1080P LCD. Turned it on the Blu-Ray logo popped up. Clicked eject put the movie in and after awhile it ejected saying incompatible disc. I thought that was odd. For the heck of it I tried 3 standard def dvds and they played with no problem at all. I tried cleaning the blu-ray disc and again incompatible disc. I then returned the blu-ray disc to my movie place and told them what happened and one of them said you may need a software upgrade. So I came home and saw I need a usb memory drive. So I went and bought a usb flash drive and did the new firmware upgrade that was on the Sharp website Firmware Version PN9022700 dated 3/13/2009 with no problem. Tried that same disc again and still incompatible disc. I returned the movie and tried another copy of the movie " Taken" . Still incompatible disc. I then tried a different movie called Indiana Jones Kindom Crystal Skull and again incompatible disc. I tried resetting the player and everything. I have no clue what is going on. I got a blu-ray disc player that plays anything but blu-ray discs. I wanna know if this thing plays any Blu-Ray discs. What the heck is this about? You buy a freakin Blu-Ray player and you rent a Blu-Ray you come home and put it in and it should play. End of story. This is flat out unacceptable. You don't put something on the market that doesn't play what it's intended to play.

How can it be the firmware? I updated to the most recent firmware available on the Sharp site. I mean I watched it update on the player with no problem. I looked to see the version after it took and it showed the most recent firmware update version PN9022700. What is the version you have that Taken all the sudden played on? I really don't get it. Why would one player the same model and firmware play a certain movie and the other one not? Something has to be up with the way the movie studio's format the DVD's. They can't all be the exact same copy throughout the country. I don't know I am getting a headache thinking about something in the scheme of life isn't that important but it tick's me off nonetheless. lol
