Default Transformers 2 almost canned

Quote:
Transformers director Michael Bay has revealed that he almost cancelled 'Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen' after Shia LaBeouf injured his hand.

The star was involved in a car accident during the shoot and severely damaged his hand.

Bay said “I actually read [about the accident] on CNN online and was like ‘This can’t be true’. I called my line producer Ian Bryce and he said ‘It’s true’, and I was like ‘Oh, my God!’ He said, ‘Let’s shut down’ and I said ‘We can’t shut down’!”

The film continued shooting despite the accident, and Bay wrote the injury into the script.

“I immediately had them find the best people in the world to make a special cast that had never been made, with the Kevlar fingers. It was very thin, so you could photograph it.

"The problem was, if he were to jam his fingers, he could have lost his fingers forever, so we had some experts of the world come up with this design."

'Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen' grossed over $200 million in the US alone on its opening weekend.

Jeez, I didn't realize his hand was that badly damaged.

(P.S. Get ready for the obvious "They SHOULD HAVE canned this one!! It raped my childhood." posts.)

He's had numerous surgeries from that accident on his hand -- if you've seen him on any of the talk shows (Conan, Dave, Jimmy Kimmel) plus any photographs, you can still see him wearing a modified cast on his left wrist & hand. You can Google it if you want but I believe it is supposed to badly damaged still & he might not ever have Full 100% use of it, but not bad enough that he can't still work obviously. I'm sure most who know this, & read that it had to be written into the story, know the scene that was added. - SPOILER ALERT FOR THE 3 OF YOU WHO HAVEN'T SEEN THIS MOVIE YET: When they get transported from the airfield to the Egyptian desert, he rolls down a hill & "hurts his hand", and Megan's character I believe, bandages it up--& he's wearing it in the rest of the movie for the last part.

Between this and the alcohol incident that cost Transformers over a month of production, it's surprising the movie went forward as well as it did. Shame on you, Shia.

Like the movie wouldn't have been popular/successful without Shia. Give me a break.

I'm suprised that Bay would have shut everything down. Regardless, Bay managed to use what he had (with Shia's injured hand) effectively in the movie I thought.
