Angry American Remake of "Let the Right One in".

Wow! I can't believe they are doing this. Why?!

And they are tentatively calling it - "Let Me In".

http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=56747

Quote:
Cloverfield director Matt Reeves talked to the Los Angeles Times about his upcoming English remake of the award-winning Swedish horror film Let the Right On In, which was based on John Ajvide Lindqvist's original novel.

"I was just hooked," Reeves told the newspaper. "I was so taken with the story and I had a very personal reaction. It reminded me a lot of my childhood, with the metaphor that the hard times of your pre-adolescent, early adolescent moment, that painful experience is a horror."

Reeves has finished a second draft of the script, now titled Let Me In. The film will be set in Reagan-era Colorado. He is scouting locations, looking to maintain the original story's chilly, snow-swept environs.

The production is also looking for the two leads, which Reeves vows will not be aged-up to make the film more of a smoldering Twilight-style romance. The story centers around Oscar, an overlooked and bullied boy who finds love and revenge through Eli, a beautiful but peculiar girl who turns out to be a vampire.
Well, maybe at least this will get people to check out the original. I truly wonder if this USA remake will be half as violent, especially since it deals with children.

Thumbs down

That guy should never be allowed to make another movie ever. Bleh the original film was excellent and is pretty recent...stupid Hollywood.

I was furious when I first read this since I saw the "Let the Right One In" blu before reading the book. The movie does leave a lot of things out, and I mean A lot.

So I will put some faith into this remake. Hopefully this is grittier than the swedish film and WAY more true to the book.

Though Lina Leandersson did play a good Eli.

Seeing as Let The Right One In was my favorite movie last year I of course have reservations. But if it can be handled rightly I will give it a shot, they really need to stick with the premise though and not make it too Hollywood and try to appeal to a wide audience.

This will be more "Twilight" than "Let The Right One In".

Unfortunately this is the case any time a book is made into a movie. LOTR, Jurassic Park, Harry Potter, etc. The list goes on and on.

Back on topic though, I enjoyed the original Ok, but the one I saw had been dubbed into English and I thought the voice actors did a terrible job with it. I'll give the remake a chance.

American remakes almost always suck. No way will it compare to the original. Same with Oldboy.
