OK, quick question about final Fantasy ( 13, versus 13 and 14 )

Well i know FF13 is coming out multiplatform this year and ill be in line for this one.. But i just was just wondering what is this final fantasy versus 13 ?? Is it the actual sequel to 13 ( being that 14 will be online , and those dont usually follow the same story as the previous , released for console ? )


I wish square would just make a SEPERATE series for the online FF games.. Ones where you can actually follow with a true sequel being the next # of the series..

Example

FF 13 out this year.. so therefore ff14 should be the sequel .. but its not, its online which is nowhere near the same.. and it makes it all to cinfusing

So anywho.. just wondering that, and what is with the versus.. because the vid of that looks unreal

FFXIII is exclusive on PS3 in Japan and Asian countries. It's multiplatform in North America and Europe.

Versus is made by the team behind Kingdom Hearts and some are behind FFVII and VIII. Nomura is the leader of this project. Expect a gameplay between KH and Advent Children.

FFXI was online so it doesn't matter if they named it FFXIV Online.

thats what im saying .. thres so many DIFFERENT brands that just want to use the FF brand for sales...

So 13 i will be buying , but to me the online and "off" topic FF games really are not as good as the ACTUAL FF game

I believe XIII and VersusXIII are set in the same 'universe' but have completely different stories and are not linked.

I agree than the online ones should be numbered/named differently. I have no interest in them so it would make it easier to ignore them

Time will tell how exactly the universe is linked but i think that having them numbered is a bad idea as we'll eventually end up with like FF XXII or something stupid

Why don't they just add a extra name on end & i'll use MGS4 & Uncharted 2 as examples

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots > Metal Gear Solid: Guns of the Patriots
Uncharted 2: Among Theives > Uncharted: Among Theives

You don't need to add the numbers as i'm sure most gamers are smart enough to know which comes first in franchise but also never underestimate J6Ps lack of knowledge so matbe that's why they use numbering

Little late in the game to drop the increased numbering of FF games, which with the exception of X-2 and more recently the FF7 compliation, never get sequels/prequels.

FF13 and FF versus 13, along with FF agito 13 (coming on PSP) are all part of the "Fabula Nova Crystallis" collection. All are said to be within the same universe and will share common mythos, but may take place at different times and may or may not have additional items in common.

It won't be out this year in NA. Only Japan. Expect the game in 2010.
