Default Blu-ray's the way to go! Thank you!

I just wanted to say thanks! I had been trolling the site when i was debating on hd-dvd or blu-ray. I had a 360 and thought the hd-dvd add on would be a better deal. Then i read everything and realized buying a ps3 is the way to go. I COULD NOT BE HAPPIER. Planet Earth on Blu-ray is the most incredible thing I have ever seen. Pirates are amazing, Departed all of them. SOOO AMAZING. All right im done flipping out.

Good choice. I've got a PS3, and for awhile I was VERY tempted to buy the add-on for the 360 since the end of the format war was still not in sight. Since it's becoming more and more apparent everyday that blu ray will win, I'm glad I held out. Although I always pick up Batman Begins on HD DVD whenever I see it . . .I do have to say that the three siggidy has the PS3 on games for now though . . . I'm hard pressed to find a PS3 game I want to plop down 60 bucks for.

I agree on the 360 being superior in games. But honestly i like being able to get every game possible (i own a wii too). And the fact that I got a relatively cheap blu-ray player that will have MGS4 on it is a plus.

True there aren't many PS3 games out right now, but think of all the PS1 and PS2 games you can still play on it. I tell you with all those games and Blu Ray the PS3 is a mighty fine deal.

Great choice. For me it was easy to decide since i refuse to buy an xbox, and am loyal to Sony, Blu-ray kinda just fell into my lap.

Trust me, I am definitely a BD fan when I got my PS3 in last Nov. Now I have more than 100 BD's at home (with 7 Prono from Jpn )

However, I don't mind if I can get a cheap HD player like the Toshiba HD-E1 in HK. It just costs $450 USD here.

The reason is that I am now crazy on watching "Heroes", and there will be a HD one released in August... but no BD due to Universal

I think I will buy the Toshiba one and then the Heroes HD. But I don't think I will buy more than 10 HD's as my friend has lots of HD with his XBox360 and HD drive

The rush of games are just begining this week for the PS3 and by next summer nobody will complain about the lack of games.

Welcome to the Blu world!

Talking Me 2

Hullo everybody!
I never had a doubt. Bought PS3 2 moths ago without a single movie to buy in my country (so i played Resistance FOM), and a few in Europe. But just before a couple of weeks realized that BDs are almost always region free!! Fantastic!
Gone Amazon, and 8 movies are already on my shells. Remembering 1999, and building up my 500 SDVD collection. Since 70% of it are 40's to 60's classics - i will not change them, especially i'm not quite pleased with T2 BD (visible, but not drastic improvements over SDVD ultimate edition). And with 1.80. we got upscaling, and support for even Nero h.264 format!!
But new movies are incredible! Pirates, Apocalypto, Casino ... Even on 24" Dell 1080p hdcp monitor, they are fascinating. However, last week bought 37" 1080p Samsung LCD, and picture is havoc! People comes to my house to watch any movie every day. I think there's only about few hundred or even less people in my country watching BD movies, there are maybe 5000 ps3 owners, but most of them teenagers without too much concern about movies. However, there's no a single person that has a HD DVD player .
Anyway, BD is a clean winner. Stupid Universal blocks me for now to enjoy Kong and a few other goodies, but for how long? I also expect with frevor LOTR on BD!!!
